Flying, Feasting, Furious Furies [Tag: Parker/Kisle'vis]

With the establishment of the Pearlriders and the Atrician Glint, a home along the coast for the Pearls and their riders needed to be made. Over time, the original beach camp was transformed from a series of tents into buildings and homes. While some of the Flotilla is being built, the primary areas such as Dining Hall, barracks for candidates, and other necessities have been completed. A series of docks with homes attached are still being built for future Pearlriders in hopes their numbers will grow, and each home is fitted with necessities as well as a personal boat that can be used for some water travel as well as living out of for relatively short periods of time.

Gentle lulling of the sea, once again you beckon me.
Upon your craggy cliff I sat, to gaze in awe and wonder at...

Lainy kicked her barefeet in the sand as she walked, watching Drift float long the shore in the ocean water. They had just surfaced from their shellfish gathering chore and her net bag of crustaceans of shellfish was slung over her shoulder as she took her time returning to the Kitchen to deliver them. Sela rode on her shoulder, her eyes darting around to catch any movement in the skies and making excited sounds when she saw something. The young woman paid her pets only half a mind as she wandered along, enjoying the sun on her skin even though the air was chillier than the summer.

It was only when both Drift and Sela start kicking up a fuss that Lainy looked around her to find out why. Several yards in front of her the sand was moving, falling away from eggs where it had been banked up to warm them. One by one, the air filled with firelizards of all colors all chittering, trilling and humming as they descended and dropped bits of food near the next. The bronzes and browns appeared to be on high alert as they dove near Lainy and drove her off from the nest. Drift flew into the air, ducking and diving as he added his hum to the sounds and the young woman ducked behind a downed tree where she could watch.

A gold appeared, likely the queen of the rather large faire, and dropped a fish that appeared to be half eaten and the humming picked up in pitch. The excitement caught the attention of a flock of wherries and Lainy watched as the males attacked and tried to drive them off. She froze in indecision, wanting to help with the wherries but remembering the swooping males driving her off as well.

Lainy watched as the large fish was taken by the flock, leaving very little food for the newly hatching firelizards to eat and her heart ached to do something about it.

The magic of your shimmering tide, that restored ease and peace inside
Caressing waves upon the shore

OUTFIT: One piece swimsuit, the bottom half covered by sweats rolled up to the calves. Her feet are bare but the sandals are in the bag of shellfish and crustaceans she's carrying back from diving to gather them.
NOTES: The nest will go wild and bond with the faire, unless anyone else comes along to use their pet claim from the nest. Lainy will not be taking any.

It was a lovely day, one that Kisle'vis paid little attention to as he and Cetovas swam along the shoreline. Some of his pearlriders had told him about strange sightings they'd had of dark shadows under the water along this way and corpses of half-eaten fish...but not just any fish, but those of the larger species. It wasn't really threatening, but it was peculiar enough that Kisle wanted to make a sweep of the area for himself. I don't see anything, Kisle'vis. We've been out here for a while too...perhaps we should call it a day. The massive white-gold asked as she resurfaced with a spray of water, Kisle hanging onto the bar of her straps.

Yeah, I don't see anything unusual either. Perhaps whatever it is that was leaving half-eaten meals has moved on, He stated with a little bit of disappointment. He was hoping for a bit of excitement today, but in the end, all they had was a nice swim on a pleasant day. It was also for the best that he didn't run into too much excitement considering they were on their own out here. Yeah, let's head home, he agreed. Kunati would be happy for him getting home sooner.

Cetovas turned and headed back toward the Flotilla. Kisle'vis asked Cetovas to try and swim as much as possible under the water on the way back so he could work on holding his breath. They were close to home when Cetovas surfaced after a nice long dash under the water. That was impressive Kisle'vis. Cetovas praised her rider. She decided to give her rider a bit of a break. That's when the flashes of something caught her eyes and she swam closer to the shore. Do you see that? On the shore. Looks like a wherry fight. Wait...I believe there is somewhere there. Should we intervene?

Kisle was still catching his breath but he looked over to the shore regardlessly. It does seem as though that person is close enough to be in danger. How about we give a hand and scare those wherries away. He suggested. Cetovas didn't need another word before she was swimming towards the shore. The wave that spread up on the sand from her breaking out of the wave was huge. The wherries, and the unseen firelizards, scattered in fright. Cetovas tried to take the opportunity to grab one of the wherries for a snack, but they were all lucky enough to get away.

Lainy stopped holding back. Looking around her she found a sharp branch and lunged into the fray, stabbing at wherries left and right as they tried to swipe at her with their clawed feet. Drift and Sela were flying in an out of range, attacking eyes and trying to rip at the faces of the attacking wherries.

Resistance met her spiked branch and when Lainy turned to look, she saw that she had caught a wherry and it was dangling from a broken neck on her branch. That was the least of her problems as she saw the approaching wave and Pearl coming toward them. Not caring for her own safety, the young woman threw herself over the top of the eggs to protect them from the water. Wherries were taking flight all around her, firelizards popping away with the sounds of displaced air until finally Lainy sat up, soaked, and looked behind her.

Breathing heavily, she stood, backing away and looking for her sack of seafood. Firelizards were returning and the low humming was returning. Above them the wherries were circling, making raucous sounds. The Pearl, now that the Candidate could take a good look, was clearly a female and so she bowed, there had to be a human around with her, right? "I hate to impose upon you, ma'am... but the wherries stole the firelizard's food for their babies. If it wouldn't be too much trouble do you mind getting them another?" Lainy bowed politely, not sure if she was even supposed to but knowing respect was key, and turned away to reach for the shellfish in her bag and try shucking them with another stick.

Drift and Sela fluttered about anxiously, wanting to get closer to the nest again but also fearing being driven off as they had been previously. When Lainy finally managed to crack a shell or two open, her pets dove in and snatched them, flying to the nest with the meat out in front of them as an offering. The young woman was desperate to provide a meal so that they wouldn't end up cannibalizing each other. So much so that she forgot to find the human counterpart of the Pearl who had helped chase away the attacking flock.
