Merely Washing Down - Kate | Isiana

The main, central area of the Weyr, since it's no longer a "bowl" like before, people have taken to calling it the courtyard, or more often, the Weyr Yard. Dragons land and take off here while people walk from building to building going along their daily duties.

Even in winter, the waters of Atricis were always pleasant enough to wash down Locrath. M'vel would not lie, he missed the snow, but he also enjoyed not freezing his tail forks while he cleaned off his lovely green. After an early finish with drills, M'vel did just that, leading his dragon down the weyrlakes in a lazy wheel down to the shore. Once they landed, he stripped her of her gear, and stripped himself of his flight gear.

With little delay, the green waded into the waters, submersing herself entirely for a nice long swim. She needed to rid herself the firestone soot which clung to her hide. It was an obnoxious scent, repulsive even, and both rider and dragon were insistent no one else needed to smell her like that.

You sure you don't want to eat first? M'vel asked of her as he shed off his flight jacket, and folded it onto a boulder. He added his gloves and helmet to the pile.

Not today. I am still well fed from yesterday. She was a tasty ewe. And a filling one at that, so it seemed to the greenrider.

He pulled off his belt, and set it with his items. Did you want to go anywhere after this? Or are we to enjoy a quiet evening tonight? With a tug of his tunic, he pulled it over his head and folded it neatly in its own pile. The garment would need a thorough washing. Fortunately, he had a fresh one folded away in his saddle back, along with a fresh pair of pants, socks, and undergarment, as well as a bag of scented soap sand. A thorough wash after a long drill had become routine for the clean man. Without a bathing pool of his own in his new weyr, he was left with little choice unless he wanted to using the communal bathing pools. It was not that he was opposed to them, but not when other soiled bodies were making thorough use of them.

I would like a long soak on the cliffs while the sun is still high. I want to enjoy the warmth while I can. M'vel did not blame her. The days grew shorter now with Winter now arrived, though not by much. Back in north, it felt as though only a handful of hours offered sunlight. Here, it still felt like the sun held to the sky for the bulk of the day.

As Locrath swam, M'vel watched her, biding his time before he finally shed the last of his attire. Living in a weyr, there was little care for such things as nudity, and M'vel had lived in the weyr long enough to let go of those holdbred reservations. He set the dirtied attire aside with the rest of his clothing, grabbed a wash rag, and then finally ventured into the waters, calling out to his lifemate. Time for that wipe down, Sweetheart.

As she swam to shore, M'vel waded in deeper, until the waters barely managed to reach his hips. It was then that he became aware of the company that approached.

Sighing a soft sigh of relief, Isiana looked around. Everything had gone well, but yet, there was still something bugging her, just at the back of her mind. The young woman knew exactly what it was, but she had been trying not to think about it. Staying positive had always been something she tried to do, but lately she found that it was a bit harder than normal. While she had been able to push those thoughts away while she was doing her paperwork and such, now that she was done with it, everything came flooding back while she put everything away.

Ever since they had found out that Lor's eye had healed, but the damage had been, irreversible for the time being, everything had just been, a bit stressful. Lor was trying to stay positive, which she knew wasn't easy for him, and she was trying to be there for him, but it was stressing her out as well. She didn't know what to do or say, and she didnt know what would happen if the vision never returned to that eye. For the time being, it looked as though he would still be able to fly and be in a Wing, so that was a good thing. Honestly, she couldn't imagine Lor not being able to do that. As much as she knew about how much he hadn't wanted to Impress, she knew that Hydranth and the Wing were his life now. If the two of them couldn't fly, she didnt know what they would do. It wouldn't be an easy adjustment, that much she knew.

Since she got done earlier than she had expected and she knew that her boyfriend wouldn’t be around for a little while yet, she decided that she and Andromedath should go down to the lake and Isiana could clean and oil her without being rushed for time. A rumble of agreement was given by the gold, so without hesitation the two of them headed down to the water.

When they arrived, the young woman was surprised to find someone else down there, but maybe other Wings had already finished training for the day? Isiana bad grabbed some extra clothes on her way out this morning, and had brought them with her so she had no qualms about wearing what was under her riding gear into the water. Looking at the man that was already out there she said,”I hope you don’t mind a bit of company. My gold and I were thinking along the same lines as you and your dragon it seems.”

We have some company, Locrath informed her rider.

M'vel was just about to work on her head when his green's warning caught his attention... only to be followed by the distinct flight of gold overhead. He turned blue eyes up at the sight as the large queen back winged for a graceful landing.

Locrath snorted at the sight. I can do it better than her.

Such a show of jealousy was rewarded with chord of laughter from her rider. Honestly, Locrath had no reason to feel such a flare, for M'vel had no desire to replace his green with a gold. A female of her stature was already enough of a handful for him. How goldriders endured their haughty queens was a mystery to a man like him. Perhaps that was why golds only impressed to females.

As to the rider, however, M'vel could not help but feel a sense of inclination towards her. Over the turns, he knew of Isiana and had even appreciated her from a distance when he spotted her from time to time in the dining hall. This very moment, however, was the first time the goldrider had ever graced him with her presence.

”I hope you don’t mind a bit of company. My gold and I were thinking along the same lines as you and your dragon it seems.”

The greenrider regarded himself before looking back to her playfully. "Why would I be the one to mind?" After all, he had chosen to leave his attire on the shore despite being out in public. M'vel did not care what she did or did not see. However, he wondered if Isiana would be bothered by such things. Curiously, he wondered if she might even be one to appreciate the show that stood before her as the waters continued to tease about his hips. "Please, by all means, join me. I'm not one to mind enjoying good company." With the rag at hand, he gestured towards his folded attire and the bag along side the neat pile. "I even have soap sand if you'd like."

While Isiana did not know the man’s name, she did indeed recognize him. She’d seen him a few times in the Weyr. Unfortunately, that was one thing she did not like. She never really had time to get to know too many people. She rarely made new friends, but she knew that would all change at some point. Bring a Queenrider kept her busy. Although, this would be a good of an opportunity as she was going to get, so she decided to make the most of it.

A small grateful smile played on her features as he said it was konproblwm if she and Andromedath joined the two of them. It would be nicer than being here by herself, or sitting at the apartment by herself. Plus she would technically be killing two birds with one stone. She wouldn’t have to be alone, and could potentially make a new friend, and she would be able to bathe and oil her beautiful gold at the same time.

Slowly, the pair made their way into the water. At first, Isiana was a bit hesitant, not sure if she really wanted to go in all the way. Pretty quickly she decided to just go ahead and do it. Andro went off and swam on her own while the young woman smiled at the man and said, ”Thank you for the offer, I just might take you up on that once my dragon decides she is done swimming.”

After a brief moment she quickly remembered her manners and said, “I’m sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Isiana, and this lovely gold is Andromedath.”

”Thank you for the offer, I just might take you up on that once my dragon decides she is done swimming.”

His blue eyes lit in amusement, and he could not help but chuckle the idea of seeing about as much of her as she currently saw of him. "My pleasure," he answered. However, while his remark might hold secret innuendo, the very sound of it remained polite and calm. While a lecher, he was courteous about his interests.

“I’m sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I’m Isiana, and this lovely gold is Andromedath.”

"No need for introduction," he assured her. "I know full well who you are." Before she might panic, he explained himself. "When I was previously a Wingsecond, I made it my business to know the leaders of the weyr. My Wingleader actually encouraged it. And, since you are a queenrider, I learned to recognise you at least by your gold-" he motioned towards the distinct queen with her striated albinism along her tail "-She is very unique, and very lovely." As was the rider who rode her.

Locrath huffed.

M'vel laughed in response, and gave an affectionate slap of his girl's shoulder. "I say it because it's the truth! But I don't love you any less, sweetheart," he assured the green, his jovial voice just boisterous enough for Isiana to hear. "Don't mind, Locrath. She's a jealous thing, but she has a good heart."

Smiling softly, Isiana let her dark eyes wander for a moment, looking around, and they landed on the man for a moment, and then made their way back to her dragon. It wasn't often that her and Andromedath had this much down time, and they were both more than happy to take advantage of it.

While she tried not to let her attention be taken completely over by her Gold, she found that it was easier said than done, and couldn't help but watch her. Even though she wasn’t a baby dragon anymore, the you g woman never ceases to be amazed at her gold. Even after all this time, she still found herself in shock at the fact that she even Impressed to a dragon, whether it was a gold or not, that was as great as Andromedath.

Her thoughts were pulled back to the present when she heard the man’s voice once again. For a few moments a look of shock and confusion registered on her face, until the man went on and explained what he meant a bit more. Smiling softly she nodded in agreement. ”She is indeed unique and I know it easy to recognize her, but I find that not many other riders would take the time to actually look at the dragons. And Andro very much appreciates you calling her beautiful. Like she doesn’t hear it enough from me or anyone else.”

Isiana could not stop the chuckle that escaped her as she watched the rider interact with his green. ”I’m sure she does, she looks as beautiful as Andro does.” After a moment dark eyes turned to the man again, ”I don’t believe I caught your name though. I know I’ve seen you around the Weyr, but I have no name to put with your face.”

There was always something touching about the love shared between rider and dragon. Even from the back of his beast, M'vel saw it in Isiana and Andromedath, and could not help but feel the edges of his smile soften over it.

Despite popular opinion, even goldrider's had hearts, and M'vel felt privileged in this rare moment to witness it.

”She is indeed unique and I know it easy to recognize her, but I find that not many other riders would take the time to actually look at the dragons. And Andro very much appreciates you calling her beautiful. Like she doesn’t hear it enough from me or anyone else.”

"I'm sure even if it seems unspoken, her suitors are showering her with compliments of her magnificence." A chuckle escaped him as he ran the cloth in his hand across the groves of Locrath's back where the soot had gathered. "I should know... Locrath frequently complains about it to me." She always seemed to get her tail fork in a twist over other females were showered with affection when she was not.

”I’m sure she does, she looks as beautiful as Andro does.”

Locrath was about to huff at her rider before Isiana offered a compliment of her own. With a sly draconic grin, she regarded her rider and answered. At least she has some sense about her to tell the truth.

The green's remark pulled a hearty laugh from her rider. "I think you are the first woman Locrath has ever spoken favourably of. She is rather pleased by your compliment."

Lest Isiana doubt him, even Locrath crooned, pleased by the attention she had received.

”I don’t believe I caught your name though. I know I’ve seen you around the Weyr, but I have no name to put with your face.”

At least he was memorable enough for Isiana to feel a sense of familiarity with him. "The names M'vel. I'd offer my hand... but..." he motioned to his position on Locrath's back, knelt upon the beast with legs straddling her. "I use to be a Wingsecond in Teal Sea Wing, but there was a recent leadership shift, so I transferred." M'vel did often miss his old wing, as well as his old Wingleader, A'nerit. The man, that old bastard, fancied Isiana, which was how M'vel's attention had been drawn to her initially. The man had a good heart, and certainly was easy on the eyes for a seventy something turn old, but M'vel recognised that his affections might not be... appreciated... by the young goldrider. The only time M'vel recalled ever interacting with the woman was when he called A'nerit's attentions away from the goldrider during a feast, if only because he noted her unease. He made contact with her once, a meet of their eyes and a nod, a wordless assurance that he would see to it that A'nerit did not bother her again. Then he escorted A'nerit away, and distracted the man with a glass of wine and a woman a bit more suitable for his age.

But that was turns ago, and M'vel doubted she would remember it.

It was indeed the truth when Isiana said she didnt notice people say much about Andromedath. That wasn't to say that she really wanted people to say stuff about her. Isiana thought that she was the most beautiful dragon ever, but of course, she was a bit biased about that as well. Every dragon rider was., no matter if they admitted to it or not. Now, that having been said, the young woman did not really need anyone to praise her dragon. Sure, it was nice to hear people talk about your dragon, but at the end of the day, the only thing that mattered was what you thought about your dragon. The man's voice pulled her from her thoughts and she couldn't help but chuckle softly to herself. "Well, I apologize for that, but unfortunately there isn't much i can do about that part of the Flight."

The next thing she knew, the young man was laughing. Confusion shone in her dark eyes, but only for the the briefest moment before he was explaining why he was laughing. Quickly after that, a grin came to her face. "Well, Im honored to be the first one to get a compliment from her."

Hearing the man's name, she nodded, chuckling slightly. "Oh don't worry, I completely understand." For a moment, dark eyes looked at the young man, making sure that she matched his face with his name now that she knew it. Although, come to think of it, the more Isiana thought about it, the more she could swear that she had met the green rider somewhere before. Finally, it clicked. M'vel had been the one to get that creepy old Wingleader away from her the one day. Sure, she was capable of taking care of herself, but the green rider had seen what was going on, and had helped her out.

The young woman felt a bit of heat rise into her cheeks. Now she was embarrassed that she hadn’t recognized him sooner. Chuckling softly, mostly to herself, she said, ”Im sorry I never got to thank you for that day. It finally just dawned on me that I had indeed met you before today.”

For a moment she just looked at him again and said, ”So, I’m saying thank you now, before I forget my manners yet again. You didn’t have to intervene, but I’m very glad you did.”

"Well, Im honored to be the first one to get a compliment from her."

A chuckle answered her, but it was purely good natured. M'vel had never been one for ridicule or cruelty, and truly did find himself amused over the remark, if only for how true it rung. Are you trying to help me? he asked of his green.

Locrath said nothing as she submerged her head into the water. Only her snout kept to the surface, allowing her to breathe.

Im sorry I never got to thank you for that day. It finally just dawned on me that I had indeed met you before today. So, I’m saying thank you now, before I forget my manners yet again. You didn’t have to intervene, but I’m very glad you did.”

M'vel at first did not understand what she spoke of until it dawned on him that she remembered. He honestly could not help but feel a bit surprised, only shake his head and smile warmly at her. "You're welcome, though honestly, I couldn't let a lecher paw all over you like that. It's improper, and you clearly were not receptive of it." A holdbred man with holdbred honour in regards to consensual treatment of women, M'vel was not going to let his former Wingleader get away with such behaviour. "Besides, just because you are a lovely young woman does mean your beauty is an invitation for harassment." Of course, he said that while he sat in the buff upon his own green, but she could have just as easily have turned away, for M'vel was first to grace the shore.

Clearly such things did not bother her, so M'vel would not apologise.

So, the green was not one to give out compliments freely then huh? Well then, that made Isiana feel all the more honored that the dragon seemed to like her, if only a little. It was honestly nice to have other people's dragons complement you. Isiana couldn't explain the reasoning behind why she thought hat, but it just made her happy when they did.

Nodding, she couldn't help but agree with him obviously. She had not been receptive to the other man, and Isiana knew she never would have been receptive, no matter what. Maybe a different rider, with different tactics, yes. While she would never say that now, back then, she and Lor had almost been on the rocks, after their argument. Although, she never really found herself looking at anyone else. It had been, and always would be Lorcan, no matter what.

A bit of heat crept into her features as M'vel called her beautiful. Running a hand through her hair a bit nervously she said, "Well, thank you fort he compliment. I'm glad you are a decent enough man to know that." She knew most men were, but there were the odd outliers, who could be real jerks.

Even as they were talking, she felt the blush deepen just a bit more as she tried not to think about the fact that he was sitting naked on his dragon. Quickly she tried to busy herself as Andromedath came over. Using the sand soap she began to clean her Gold.

"I'm glad that's all in the past now, and that nothing like it has happened again. I guess that's because of my boyfriend. He can be, a bit overprotective of me sometimes."
