Gotta Catch Up! [Tag: Loyalty/Elikos]

Very similar to the old lower caverns, these ones are a little less than before as well. These Lower Caverns almost exclusively hold storage rooms and living spaces for all the Weyrfolk.

Briefly, Elias expected the literal answer of, "I got here by dragon," but Elikos said more, mentioning Locke's name. Of course, Elias couldn't help but think, though not with malice, but of course somehow Locke was related to this. It seemed that his life often somehow went back to Locke, however minorly it did, but considering they had been in the same orphanage, then found themselves, completely unplanned, in the Weyr too, and now this boy.... this boy that looked so remarkable familiar, was under Locke's wing. He wondered if Locke saw the similarity? Perhaps not.

Then Elikos spoke more, admitting that he did in fact know a Markos, a man that had helped him, perhaps even saved his life. It was hard to not believe it was Markos then. The man who had managed to find Elias and get him out of trouble. It was hard not to wonder more then...

"Anything else ya wanna chatter on about?"

The kid, either way, was long since done with this conversation. He debated how to continue this interaction, but he knew perhaps it would be best to go to Locke soon. But more importantly to him, he needed to contact Markos soon. He wondered what Markos had been keeping to himself.

"I think I'm done, thank you. Take care of that little flitt, they're great lifelong companions." Here, he scratched the chin of one of his own girls. "Do you need help finding your way out?" He didn't know how long Elikos had been here, how familiar he was with the tunnels, probably very likely, but he'd still offer, not wanting to leave a lad alone and potentially lost.

Elikos had no idea what thoughts were going through Elias' head. He only knew what was finally said aloud and it made him snort with disgust and then roll his eyes. He wasn't lost. He was a rat. He prided himself on knowing his way around these dark places even if he'd only arrived at the weyr a short time ago. Sure he'd not explored even half of them yet but he had a solid map of this place or he'd not have come here when followed.

As for the comment about his flit... "I ain't a dimglow." He huffed quietly and squeezed past the man now that 'permission' was granted for him to go. Did he trust that permission? Nope. Did he try to snag the strange pendant again on his way by? Well... he wasn't going to let on if he did.

Stopping at the door, something stopped him and he turned back to take a long look at Elias. Something seemed a little off. He couldn't figure out what it was. Had it been a sound, a look, an instinct? With Itzy cradled in his arms he paused at the door and tried to figure out what it might have been.

He took all of the kid's behavior, the snort and eye roll and the "I ain't a dimglow," as signs that the kid was completely done with this conversation now, more so than he had been a few minutes earlier. He didn't think he could get any other information from him, not that he had anything else he felt he could ask him. The people that likely had the answers, or something close to answers, for the questions he now had were Markos and Locke. Why did his path keep crossing with Locke's even after so many turns since they were orphanage brothers?

He let the boy pass, stepping aside swiftly to let him go without him having to shove past him. He wouldn't blame the boy for his curtness, after all, the Bottoms didn't breed kind or polite children, he knew that as well despite his demeanor these days. He did however, keep a hand in his pocket on the pendant, knowing better than to trust a Bottoms pickpocket after he'd already swiped something from him once. The kid was new to the Weyr, clearly not adjusted yet, and likely clinging to old ways out of comfort and familiarity though he didn't need them anymore.

For a moment, as the kid passed him, Elias stood, running a hand over his hair and the back of his neck, rubbing it a moment with a small sigh as he thought to himself. He wasn't ready to let this go, though he let the boy walk away for now. But it weighed on him what Markos might have been keeping from him for who knows how many turns. Already he was starting to formulate what message he would send to Markos.

"Looks like you get to see Markos again soon little Nia," he said softly to the green flitt, scratching her chin before he moved and saw that Elikos was in the doorway, looking at him. He looked back at the boy, studying his features, his hair color, his eyes... Was he really seeing what he thought? Or was he just being hopeful? What was he hoping for anyway?

"Try and behave, ok? New Atricis is a much safer, more prosperous place than the Bottoms. There's better things you can do with those deft fingers of yours than stealing from pockets." He didn't think the kid would listen, but he could try to reiterate to the boy not to steal anymore. Now he made his own way to the door, hands in his pockets.

"I'll see you around, Elikos." He stepped out through the door, thinking. Elikos. Elias. Markos. It was all too similar, the names were so much the same, like his and Markos' names together, he couldn't let it go. He paused a moment, looking back to Elikos.

"You sure you don't know your parents?"
