Time: Mid-afternoon, 14:00
Weather: Light drizzle
It was that time again; Keetin was sure of it. Although he still didn't have as much experience as some of the other queenriders, it was hard to miss the intensifying of his beloved Lauruth's hide. Thanks to the long wait for her maiden Flight, Keetin had drilled himself quite well in what he needed to do on his end before, during, and after the Flight. Of course...the latter two...some experience definitely helped. It was easy to put up a notice to let everyone know that Lauruth would Rise soon, that his door was open. Actually...even the pre-Flight stuff was not that easy, not all of it at least. Keetin still had to gauge which day was likely to be THE day so that he could warn the other queenriders. Even if zultanites were not as possessive of their suitors as golds tended to be, there was nothing stopping said golds from being jealous of Lauruth. Any rider worth his or her knots knew better than to risk a fight between dragons.
With a little help from the more experienced queenriders Keetin was able to pinpoint the day he was fairly confident Lauruth would Rise. With Venna's help he quickly and easily sent notice. The suitors needed no warning, not with the way their dragons were sure to be tuned into Lauruth...who was sound asleep.
Despite the tingle in the air, the anticipation of what was to come, Keetin made himself focus on work. He could not afford to shirk his duties for who knew how many candlemarks until his beauty awoke. However he also didn't want to be caught out in the middle of the Weyr Yard or something when the Flight began. Thus Keetin opted to work on paperwork, anything and everything that he could easily do in/near his apartment. He even dressed rather loosely for the day, a simple shirt and loose pants that could easily be stripped off. When Lauruth was Caught he would be in no mood for dealing with clothes, specifically taking them off. Clothes got in the way when lust held the reins.
Almost as if his thoughts held some sort of strange power, said fire suddenly woke within him, setting his blood to a boil. Keetin smirked and set aside his work, though the smirk soon faded into a look of intense concentration. Lauruth was up and she was ravenous, as all Rising dragons tended to be. Thankfully she wasn't quite as bad as golds were rumored to be-or maybe Keetin was that good at battling wills with her to get her to blood only. Who knew? Not like he would ever have a Flight with a gold to compare the two. However, gold or not, Lauruth was a queen ready to Rise. She wanted meat and she wanted it NOW! She made her ire well known to Keetin when he kept insisting she blood only. No matter how hard she pushed however, he only pushed back with equal force until she finally relented with a growl, draining the herdbeasts she had downed.
Any of the males that got too close to her were also growled at, Lauruth warning them to stay out of her space. Her growls weren't all that grumpy though. When it came to Flights Lauruth tended to be playful and flirty-but she still wouldn't tolerate overeager boys and gave them due warning for getting too close.
The second she finished blooding the last beast Lauruth launched herself into the air, bugling a challenge to the males. If they wanted her they would have to prove themselves to her, no matter how she adored them. And adore them she did, particularly the large turnout. As a zultanite she enjoyed an incredibly large and diverse pool of males. Only the largest of pewters had the rare chance of Catching a gold and the blues...only a giant like Verikath stood any chance and he was likely the only blue on Pern large enough to do so. But Lauruth? Her Flights were not quite as grueling and thus she had the pleasure of being Chased by possibly every male in the Weyr, except the pyrites. Bronzes, browns, blues, pewters all flew in the air behind her and Lauruth relished it.
Bronze and blue, pewter and brown, she sang as she finally got high enough in the sky to start properly playing with the boys, a rainbow of hues, of hides, all for me. Lauruth sighed dramatically and spun like a drill, wings folded close until she had to open them and catch herself. However will I be able to choose only one of you? Dazzle me boys, help me with this torturous decision!
If he weren't already swept away with her, Keetin would have made a fake-gagging sound at Lauruth. She really was too much sometimes. At least she meant what she said: she basked in the glow of so many eyes on her shining form. Any one of them could be the one she twined with-she just had to choose. As for Keetin, he was about as ready as he could manage. The ties on his trousers were left loose and he'd opted to toss his shirt away. Let the riders of Lauruth's suitors get a peek at what they'd win should their dragon be chosen. It was one less piece of clothing in the way for the moment Lauruth made her choice.
((Ahhhh I'm late! By three whole day! But here it is, just one round, and if all you do is post one paragraph about your boy jumping in the air after her it'll work. XD Keetin's door is wide open to any riders who wish to be there. And um...seeing as this is three days late...I still want a week to give everyone plenty of time so the Flight closes on the 28th. And I WILL sharding be on time next Monday. X_X))
