A Party For Two -- {Keetin / Altreis}

Even with the move to the South, Gathers are still a thing to look forward to, though in the Walled Hold they appear to be called Festivals instead. Either way, Gathers and Festivals are a time of fun to enjoy when they come around.

After they'd found that mysterious raffle, there wasn't much to do but wait until the drawing, so the pair of them had wandered around the Gather as one did while attending a Gather. Elysia peered in at the merchants' stalls, oggling a few shiny trinkets here and there, but she rarely thought of herself while idly brushing a hand over a necklace or bauble. She thought of her mother, of Krysia, or of Keetin, and others instead of buying something for herself. When they finally reached the end of all the stalls, Elys had made up her mind and went back to purchase a few of the things that had caught her eye, bagging them away for later to gift to the ones she loved. Of course, it was hard to hide the one she intended for Keetin, as the zultaniterider was with her, but somehow she manages to get it without him knowing and slipped it into her bag with the other goodies.

Having kept a mental ear on the raffle, when the announcer began, Elysia gave a start and then tugged on her friend once more. "It's starting!" She exclaimed and then began to hurry back toward that booth and those mystery eggs that were going to be handed out. She waited impatiently, feet practically bouncing on her tiptoes as she strained to hear the man calling out names, and when she finally heard her own, Elys gave a soft squeal of delight as she wriggled through the crowd to reach the table. The officiant handed her not one, but both of the strange eggs and the femme bluerider looked down at them with awe and she cradled them both carefully in her hands. The next name was quite familiar, and soon enough the zultaniterider was pressing in beside her once more, a smile on his face as he too accepted one of each egg.

Eyslia's smile beamed even brighter as she regarded Keetin, the child within her heart wriggling on the surface now as the young woman was far too delighted that words couldn't even describe it. Action spoke louder and she gave Keetin another tug on his sleeve, pulling him out of the crowd and she didn't stop until they were on the edges of the Gather were it was a littler quieter. She wanted to hug him, to embrace him with her delight, but she was far too careful with these new eggs and instead leaned in to place a quick kiss on his cheek so she wouldn't squish the eggs. "Can you believe it?? I can't wait to see what's inside. Oh Faranth, this is so exciting!" Elys exclaimed breathlessly and then eyes went wide as she remembered something. "OH! We need food for them." The bluerider said with a start and looked back into the throng of the Gather. At the mention of food, her own stomach growled and she was reminded that she hadn't eaten since breakfast either. "Maybe we all do." The bluerider added with a softer chuckle, then prepared herself to dive back into the Gather.

A short time later, they had procured a full plethora of delights to share between each other and of course the most important, a piled of braised beast to feed their newest pets once they emerged. Moving toward the outskirts of the Gather once more, Elysia found them a spot on a grassy knoll that was raised a little so they had a view on either side of them, of the hustle and bustle of the festivities, or the array of lounging dragonkin in the field beside them. Elys plopped herself down and tucked the eggs carefully into her lap, keeping them warm and safe until they were ready. "How long do you think it will be?" She asked of Keetin as she popped a piece of fruit into her mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

Whirlwind Elysia was at it again. Keetin felt rather like a little flit being buffeted about in a windstorm. There was no slowing his friend down! Look at this, peruse that, and he could swear he saw her keeping an ear out for the raffle to begin. Granted he could hardly blame her; the prospect of winning the egg of a new kind of pet was very exciting. Shells they were at a Gather. Gathers were fun and generally busy. Things to look at, things to buy, dancing, food...all of it! And he was lucky enough to have Elysia to share the experience with. He might call her "Whirlwind Elysia" in his mind but it was a teasing moniker. Keetin was not unhappy getting "dragged all over the Gather", as he grumped at Elysia at one point. On the contrary he was enjoying himself immensely and even used Elysia's boundless energy against her. She was so busy buying things that Keetin was able to sneak something here and something there behind her back-gifts for her of course, cleverly hid among those he openly purchased in front of her for his sister, his parents back in Fort, etc.

When Elysia suddenly grabbed him again and started moving, Keetin was not surprised. What did catch him a little off-guard were Elysia's words. What was starting? Oh! Thankfully Keetin was getting quite good at following wherever Elysia tugged him towards. The brief confusion did not slow him down.

At the raffle itself he was treated to the sight of Elysia just about bouncing out of her skin with anticipation. Keetin chuckled and teased her, asking her if she needed him to hold onto her so she didn't bounce into the sky on accident. Just about the time he was teasing her though, her named was called and it was with a soft squeal that Elysia managed to worm her way through the crowd over to the man that was handing the eggs out.

Well how about that! Keetin exclaimed privately to Lauruth, laughing. I'm hanging out with a lucky girl! Lucky indeed-she was handed one of each egg. How did she manage to win both raffles?! Keetin was laughing at her insane luck when he heard someone call out for him.

"Hm?" Keetin hummed, looking about the crowd-then blushing slightly as he realized it was the man running the raffle. Sheesh she's not only lucky; she's a lucky charm!

It was to a chorus of rumbles from Lauruth in the back of his mind that Keetin moved up next to Elysia and received his own egg-eggs! Okay...did Pern just tilt onto its side or something? How was it possible that not only did both of them win but they each won both of the raffles: one egg from each mystery clutch?

Either way he was soon tugged away once more, trying to juggle two eggs while Elysia kept going and going and going. Where was she taking him? She didn't plan on going back to the Weyr on foot he hoped!

But no, once they were on the outskirts of the Gather Elysia stopped-and proceeded to explode with all her happiness and excitement. Keetin even got a quick kiss on the cheek from it all! He was about to respond when Elysia's chattering words got around to the topic of food-and her stomach chimed in with its own complaints. Keetin tried and failed to hold in his own laughter as he followed her back into the Gather to procure food. At least once they had that and got somewhere quiet once more-by their dragons no less!-Elysia settled down a bit.

At her question Keetin gave Elysia an impish smirk, carefully arranging his own pair of eggs in his riding jacket before settling next to the bluerider. "Well..." he drawled, laughter in his voice, "I'd say...just long enough to drive you mad with waiting." Chuckling, he wrapped an arm around her and pulled her against his side. "And there, now you can't flitter off before you've eaten!"

Elysia had a tendency...to forget her age and never act as old as she was. Especially when she was excited, and thankfully she knew Keetin was no stranger to her whimsical ways. So even as she dragged him to and fro, back and forth, for this or that, he always seemed to do so with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step for her. She loved him for it too, for putting up with her, because not many have stuck around the same way Keetin had. He had been her best friend, and now they were...well, boyfriend and girlfriend was one way of putting it, but they both lived the Weyrlife too and Flights were a part of life, and pretty faces called from everywhere, yet his was the only one that called her home again. They had each other to lean on, someone who would always listen and understand better than anyone could, there was no replacement for what they shared and they each knew it too.

Now was not the time to dwell on them though, but instead her excitement and focus was entirely on the two eggs in her lap, each holding a mystery the likes of which her mind was having a hayday imagining up everything possible. When she felt the zultaniterider settle down beside her - once she finally stopped moving -, she glanced over and smiled at him already beginning to lean into him as his arm moved to wrap around her, holding her closer. A soft chuckle escaped her as Keetin called her out on her flighty behavior, but she just wiggled in place a little more and leaned in to kiss his cheek. "I'm right where I want to be now." The bluerider said with a smile and impish wag of her brow at the young man before turning back to their picnic sort of dinner.

Reaching, she plucked up a bread roll and opened it up a little, stuffed a meatroll or two in there and a pinch or three of cheese and she had herself a makeshift sandwich, taking the first bite with a satisfied smile. "Just wish we didn't have to...wait. I'm already crazy, so waiting isn't going to make it any better." The bluerider teased the moment her mouth was free again and chuckled softly to herself, flashing a grin at Keetin. "Got any thoughts to make time go by faster? Or at least, keep us occupied long enough?" Elys asked, the slight glimmer of mischief in her eye, a coy smile tugging at the corner of her lips, though her gaze only lingered for a taunting moment before settling back down to look at the pair of eggs resting in the warmth of her lap once more.

O-ho-ho-ho-ho, Elysia was asking for it. The bluerider was flirting with danger and it would be so very easy for Keetin to make her regret what she was saying and doing...in all the best ways of course.

Oh she started off well enough, finally settling down and beginning to eat. However her stomach could not distract her for long from her building excitement over those eggs. Truthfully the adventurer in Keetin was just as eager to see what came out of them. The queenrider side though? He wanted to give her a playful swat and insist she eat before her stomach started eating her from the inside out.

"Ha!" Keetin laughed out loud when Elysia's eyes inevitably went back to the eggs. She might play a spicy game but there was no denying her intense fascination with those little shells. "Well, I could think of a thing or two," he said, letting his voice drop into a sultry purr, "but then we would run the risk of not noticing when they start to hatch...if you could even pry yourself away from them long enough to try!" The last was said in an exaggerated, playfully exasperated tone.

Before Elysia could react however Keetin was winding both arms around her to hold her close. "If you really want though, I wouldn't say no to celebrating once those little ones make their entrance."
