Isiana had rarely ever thought about Flights. That was, until she Impressed to Andromedath. Since then, they had been on her mind just a bit more. Probably more than a bit, but she wouldn't admit it. Honestly, she had always hoped she would Impress a Gold, and now that she had one, it was like a dream come true. Except for the fact that she knew that her gold would eventually rise, and hopefully (for the sake of the Weyr), clutch. Actually, the young rider thought she was more scared of the fact that for some unknown reason, her Gold would not clutch. That had been a thought in the back of her mind honestly since the day the two had become one. If she didn't clutch, or lost most of her eggs or something, what would happen then? Unfortunately, as soon as she tried to push that thought out of her mind, another one crept in. What if, for some unknown reason, her beautiful Gold never rose?

As much as Isiana hated thinking thoughts like that, as the seasons changed, Andromedath had still not risen, and that thought kept coming to the front of her rider's mind. It was beginning to seem more and more likely, well, to Isiana anyway, that something was wrong. As much as she talked to Andomedath about it, the dragon always seemed to evade the question. Since her dragon wasn't really being any help, Isiana had decided to go to the Weyrwoman and talk to her. Safryn explained that not everything went according to plan, and that the young Gold would rise when both dragon and rider were ready. Isiana was thankful for the advice, and then found herself wondering which one of them wasn't ready.

If she had to guess, it was her. The fight she had had with Lor still weighed heavily on the young woman's mind most of the time, even after they had gotten past it. It was just, something she didn't want to have to go through again. Maybe if she let it go, and tried not to worry about things like that, everything would be better. Maybe then everything would be as it should be. One day, she decided maybe she should talk to her Gold about this, get her thoughts on it.

Am I the reason you aren't rising Andro?" Of course Isiana felt a little weird asking that, but she needed to know.

Eventually I will rise when I feel like it. I will not place the blame on anyone. We will both know when the time is right.

One lovely, sunny fall morning, Isiana could tell that something was very different from the moment she woke up. Shortly there after, it dawned on her. These feelings, Andromedath was finally getting ready to rise. With this being her first Flight, Isiana was not sure about exactly what she was in for. Sure, it had been explained, but how could you really explain exactly what was going to happen? For now, she put that to the back of her mind. The young rider knew there were certain things she needed to do now that she knew Andromedath was close. She began writing the letters, warning the other Queen riders of what was coming. Then she wrote one to Lor as well, letting him know that it would be soon. The blue rider would most certainly want to be there with her.

Once she got the letters delivered, she let her mind dwell on what else needed to be done. Surprisingly, the answer was, nothing. Everyone already knew her door was going to be locked, and she had already gotten her armband as well. After the fight her and Lor had had, and after they made up, she had done that stuff immediately. Getting it done and out of the way so she didn't have to worry about it had seemed like the best thing to do, and she was honestly glad she had.

Two days later, Isiana awoke with a start. Sitting up, she looked around, wondering what exactly had woken her up. Seeing nothing that should have woken her up, she just sat there for a moment. The sun had barely started rising, a pale pink light just starting to show through her windows. Shrugging to herself, the young gold rider moved to lay back down and go back to sleep, and that's when she noticed it. It shocked her that it had taken her that long, but now she could sense it. Andromedath was finally ready to rise.

Just as she thought that, the gold took to the air, and headed towards the beast pens. As she flew, she roared a challenge to the whole Weyr. Come and get me if you dare boys!

Quickly Isiana remebered everything she had been taught, and began to gain control of her dragon. No Andro, you can only blood it! Of course, it was easier said than done, but after a battle of wills, Andromedath blooded 4 heardbeasts and then took to the sky just as the sun rose, shining off her golden hide, making her shine brighter than ever before. She couldn't wait to see what the boys had to offer her.

(OOC: This will be a two round Flight since it is her maiden Flight. I will try and post the next round either next Saturday or Sunday (4/14 or 4/15 depending on how my 3 jobs are going at that point. Have fun with it!)

The last thing that Duke had anticipated upon arriving at New Atricis was being told that a gold was going to rise. He had hoped to have a few days time to himself before being thrown into such matters, but given the fact that greens rose almost every day, and Wojoth had a habit of chasing whenever he had the chance, he should have known better than to hold his breath and hope there would be time for him to relax. He swallowed when he asked if this was something of a leadership variety or not. He had just left one position, and he wasn't ready to fall into something as important as the role of Weyrleader. Thankfully, as he'd come to find out, not long prior there'd been something of such importance that had taken place, so he'd lucked out there by miles upon miles.

The lady in question was Andromedath, a gold that would be rising for the first time. Her rider, a young woman by the name of Isiana, was easy enough to pick out once he asked about her. Hers was a closed door flight, something he wasn't too familiar with, but one that he became quickly solid in mind of once he learned of it. These were different practices in the South than the ones he'd encountered in the North, and while time to adjust would have been welcome, he didn't have that luxury in this case. It wasn't something that really required too much thought really. The door would be shut, the door would be locked, he would have to find his release elsewhere. Simple enough to understand really; and Fort had issues with some of these practices.

Days later, he was woken up quite suddenly by his dragon, told that they needed to prepared. She was glowing quite brightly, the other queens had departed. She was looking so glorious, he insisted. Duke would have gone out to the ledge to look himself, but he remembered that ledges ere not a thing here, not like he was used to at least. If he wanted to see for himself, he was going to have to get dressed, go outside, look to the very heavens and hope that he was able to see something before the dragons took to the horizon. Now, back at Fort, this is where he would have made himself presentable for the queen's rider, made sure he was of proper appearance. Here? He didn't have to do that. For all he cared, he could stand outside and moth the flight away.

It was a tempting thought, one that he felt in his gut as Wojoth took to the feeding pens. Perhaps leaving his room was a dangerous thing. Duke had only been a rider for twelve of his forty Turns. But he'd experienced handfuls of golden flights, and he knew what he'd be walking into. A little drink, a little something that he could get himself lost into. Why not? He wasn't a tied man anymore, after all. While his mind was still his own, he dressed semi-casually and left for the Yard, the experience of the past - oh how long ago it had been since he'd done this - giving way to swiftness of foot, allowing him to reach his destination before very long.

At the pens, Wojoth, large as he was, brought down his first beast. The bronze was nothing, if not a gentleman, and he awaited the golden beauty the chance to make the kills first. She was exquisite, everything that a bronze such as himself could ever hope for in a mate, and he crooned his desire to her, but he did not move until she bit into her first kill. Only then did he take his teeth to neck, and only then did he contemplate a second. When she called out, he bugled in response. I shall make myself worthy of you, sweet queen! Let us make a journey together in haste! And to the sky he went, following her like she were a beacon in the night.

Wojoth Comes With The Following Mating Flight Traits

(ooc: If anyone would like to latch onto Duke for the duration of the flight, just keep in mind that for him, it's all casual. <3)

There was, admittedly, quite a bit that he was going to have to get used to here in the South. Many things were still the same, don't get him wrong there, but in particular the unspoken rules regarding mating flights would take some time for him to ever truly understand them. With luck, however, he would actually have time to ruminate over them before a female that actually caught his dragon’s attention ever rose to mate. Not that it was a particularly uncommon thing for the bronze to refuse to chase, mind, but he foolishly entertained the idea that the recent transfer to New Atricis would keep Rhovanioth in check for the time being. He would be proven wrong, and sooner rather than later, but up until that point in time, he had blissfully decided that he had more than enough time on his hands to learn the ways of this new Weyr. Ah, if only he had realized from the start what a sharding deadglow he had been for that duration of time, maybe he wouldn't have been thrown into the situation that he would soon find himself in.

It was early in the morning when the bronzerider had awoken with a start, a sharp inhale of breath accompanying the jerking movement into a sitting position. He had only been a rider for five of his twenty-six Turns, but even at that young of a bond compared to others, D’aen was certainly no inexperienced fool. His dragon had been fully mature and chasing both golds and greens for four Turns; to be unable to recognize the signs now would have been nothing short of folly on his part. No, the feeling was all too familiar to him, and in an instant his thoughts reached out to the bronze sitting outside the apartments, a feeling of mild frustration making itself known through the bond. Are you serious, Rhovanioth? he asked the bronze, one eyebrow ticking up slightly when he received only amusement laced with desire through the bond with his dragon. We just transferred, you overgrown firelizard! Whatever happened to taking the time to get to know the females better?

That was your decision, rider. Not mine, the bronze responded, irritation bleeding through their bond for a moment before vanishing just as swiftly as it had appeared. Personally, I would never deny a lovely girl anything that she asks for. And right now, Andromedath is asking for her males to rise to her challenge. I am one of her males, and I must answer her call. Rhovanioth gave his rider little room for argument, for it was directly after that statement was made that the great dragon lifted himself from his seated position, lifting his great bulk before taking to the skies. It didn’t take him long to reach the corrals, landing with a soft thud as he reached out, grabbing the nearest herdbeast and sinking his sharp teeth into the creature’s neck. Within moments, he was blooding his kill, refusing to partake of the flesh, as he knew it would only serve to slow him down if he did. And no matter what, he had to be at his best if he wanted even a chance to catch the golden beauty. He offered a croon to the young gold, not daring to draw closer at the moment, knowing that to do such a thing would be risking raising her ire.

I answer your call, my beauty, though I can only pull off a pale imitation of your skill in the air, he whispered to her, another croon escaping him before he grabbed another herdbeast, draining the creature of its life’s blood before looking back up at Andromedath, his golden bronze muzzle stained crimson with the beast’s blood. And with that, Rhovanioth fell silent for the time being, knowing that the time for words would be over soon, and the time for action was close at hand. To the beautiful females of his kind, actions spoke far louder than words, especially when they were pretty words that all the males flung at them during times like this. No, the bronze would let his actions speak for him from here on out, and let the gold choose only the best. Which, he whispered in the back of his mind, would hopefully be him.

Back in his apartment, D’aen had been left to his own devices. He had been told that Andromedath’s rider, a young woman named Isiana, had declared this a ‘locked Flight’. That meant that no matter how Rhovanioth fought for control of the man’s body, making him long for the touch of Isiana just as his bronze longed for even the slightest touch from the great queen, he would not be allowed that. Her door was closed to him, and would not be opening. Which meant that he would have to find some other way to achieve what his bronze so desired for him. Did he dare to step outside, into the Weyr itself, where so many others also felt the effects of the gold’s flight? He debated with himself only for a moment, Rhovanioth’s desires welling up within the pit of his stomach and forcing his hand on the matter. With only a sigh escaping him, the bronzerider pulled on a pair of trousers and a tunic that he had draped over a chair the night before, shoving his feet into a light pair of boots and stepping outside of his room. Either he would find someone who would be willing to help him ease his tensions, or he would have to find some isolated spot to help himself. Either way, he was out in the open, away from the rider of the dragon that his bronze desired above all others now, and for only a moment, he wondered just how this sort of thing would be affecting Rhovanioth later. But those were thoughts for another day.

Rhovanioth has these flight-related items attached:

Issormoth had chased a gold not long after he and his rider arrived in New Atricis and he ignored the greens who rose nearly every day it seemed. As a brown he could chase any of the females but he didn't feel inclined to chase every single one. It all seemed to be too much work to be a serial chaser and it wasn't everyday he even considered chasing worth the effort.

A young beautiful gold however, did catch his eye. She weas such a bright glowing gold it was impossible to miss her as she soared down towrads the feeding pens to make her first kill and blood it. Not only was she a bright pure gold, glowing to rival Rukbat itself, her pale underside and uniquely patterned tail was breathtaking. Issormoth definitely felt he would like to get to know Andromedath better.

Lerina was just finishing feeding Evana and Ghost when she felt the surge of desire from Issormoth. She had heard a gold was going to rise any day and the rider announced she will have a closed door. That suited Lerina just fine as she had no interest in participating in the usual antics mating flights brought out. One reason she kept her own band handy to ensure nobody tried to ease their lust with her. For the time being it seemed she'll be unable to really focus on anything till the gold was caught and if fortune favoured her, it won't be Issormoth. If her brown was successful Lerina wasn't sure what she'll do. One thing she did know she preferred to be alone. Best to just lock her door now and stay where she was.

The large brown claimed his own beast to blood, eyes whirling with the red of mating. Despite his desire he couldn't help taking a moment to admire the beauty that was Andromedath. Now that he decided he would chase and Issormoth's mind went into figuring out the best way to win this challenge. He wasn't an overly competitive dragon but when it came to any task he set his mind to he was very focused and precise in how he went about it.

>I certainly dare, beautiful Andromedath. I have never set eyes upon a gold as beautiful as you and though I am brown if you chose me you'll learn just what sort of brown I truly am.>

The bronzes who showed up to also participate in the mating flight were still larger than he was but this didn't deter Issormoth anymore than the fact they were bronzes. He was used to standing up for his decisions since the moment he hatched and he wouldn't chased out of this flight unless Andromedath herself wished him away. As eager as he was to be with her he would never defy her own wishes in this. He was not a dragon to force himself on any female no more than he would allow any human male try to harm his Lerina.

He launched himself into the air with powerful beats of his dark brown wings. The tri-coloured brown was huge for his kind, rivaling many bronzes in length and stamina but size and stamina wouldn't be all Issormoth would need to prove he was the best choice. Even as he took to the air he did size up the other males giving chase, it was they he would need to compete against, to prove he was the most worthy. I

Whatever people in other Weyrs might think, Vin'del considered it a relief that every goldrider in the Weyr now locked her door for flights. Despite his fondness for greens, Folith still chased every clutching dragon that rose, determined that he would one day sire a clutch. Vin'del couldn't blame him, though he was certainly glad that they had managed to peacefully avoid the last Leadership flight. This one, though...

If there was some sort of advantage to being available to the queen's rider, none of the chasing males would have that advantage. Vin'del's reluctance to surrender to that kind of intense loss of control was not going to handicap Folith in any more flights. When it became clear that Andromedath was about to rise, he spoke to a greenrider that he had spent a few evenings with, and made certain that he had plans.

That morning, he woke up a little earlier than usual, and felt his bronze’s rising excitement Today, Today, the young queen rises today, Folith chanted in Vin’del’s mind, and the man grinned at the imminence of the feeling. Almost immediately, it felt like, and he was unsurprised when he heard her challenge just as he stepped outside his quarters. His friend’s one requirement had been that he seek her rooms rather than her coming to him, so he spent a few minutes walking across the Weyr, seeing other brown and bronzeriders seeking their own accommodations. Folith’s charming way with greens was certainly serving his rider well today, and Vin’del felt pretty smug about the fact that he already had plans.
Kate wrote: Come and get me if you dare boys!
I come, lovely Andromedath, I dare, Folith announced, following her to the Feeding grounds to blood his own kill while he watched her avidly.

He rose immediately after her, momentarily blinded by the glow of the sun behind her. You are indistinguishable from the sun, beautiful queen, you will surely burn us all, he crooned to her, continuing to fly in her direction until his vision cleared.

{OOC: Folith has Radiant agility.}

Everyone was saying that Andromedath was finally going to rise, and P’list sort of wished she already had, say half a turn before. He had spent the last turn controlling Elahrairath whenever a female rose. He pushed down his dragon’s lust, his desire to chase the queens, greens and every female in between. Now, he wasn’t obligated to do that, and surely he didn’t have the right. If his brown wanted to chase – and he did – then P’list had to allow it.

He wished the first flight that Elah expressed interest in after P’list was allowed to participate in flights had been a green. He wasn’t ready for this, and felt certain to make a fool of himself. Andromedath, I have waited for you to rise, the brown caroled at the slightly younger queen. He didn’t understand why he never chased before, so from his perspective this might even have seemed true. Elahrairath had never felt the strong urge to chase any dragon, because of P’list’s tight control, until this morning, so surely he had been waiting for her.

P’list was pressed against the door of his room, curled into a ball as he leaned against it to keep it closed. He wasn’t ready for this, and he did not want to find himself in bed with some random flight moth. He should have tracked down a friend, but there wasn’t anyone he felt that way about, and until right now caught up in his dragon’s lust, he couldn’t have imagined wanting to bed someone in general instead of someone specific. Right now, if he left his quarters, if he stood up and opened the door, he was sure he would latch onto the first moth he saw, and regret it profoundly.

Next time, he would ask a friend. Or maybe it would be one of the greenriders who didn’t wear a band. He could be ok with bedding someone specific because of their dragons. He just...didn’t want a stranger.

Fox had been a rider long enough to know that every gold was a little different. Therefore, he was not shocked or surprised at the fact that their youngest queen had decided to take her sweet time with when she was going to rise. Mnenomth, however, was not as patient. His bronze loved to chase and it had been awhile since he had chased after any female, even longer still since he'd won a flight. For the last several days he'd been watching Andromedath sensing that she was getting close to taking to the skies.

For Fox, he had known when Isiana had put herself on the closed flight list, but of course he too was on that list now too. He informed J'on of what was likely to happen soon. That way when it did he wouldn't suddenly have his boyfriend hunting him down and dragging him somewhere private. Fox didn't even miss participating in flights. Why would he when he had his short stack who was absolutely perfect in every way, shape, and form. He really wasn't sure how his life could be more perfect at this time.

Come and get me if you dare boys!

The challenging call came very early in the morning. Mnenomth was already waiting and watching her from the edge of the corral. Fox was awoken by the wave of desire that surged through his bronze and into him. He sat up in bed a bit disoriented at first and scrubbed his face for a second. That's when he realized what was going on. Andromedath finally rises? He asked sleepily. Yes, it is time finally. I will prove my worth to her. The bronze replied. Since he'd been keeping an eye out he had ate light and blooded a few kills. Good luck then. May you woo her over. Fox said and then curled back up in bed and began to tease his short stack awake. At least this way he didn't have to go looking for him.

Mnenomth wasted no time in taking off after the young gold. His powerful wings surged him upwards into the dawn light of the sky. The sun pales in comparison of you, dear Andromedath. I will show you my worth today. The bronze crooned to her sweetly.

They had not been in New Atricis long at all. Only a little over a sevenday, just enough time for him and Shardamakath to learn the layout of their new home, get an idea of what their new wing was going to be like, and for Mars to get his personal belonging unpacked. Even after all these turns of living in a weyr he didn't have that much to call his own. It was hard to break the habits of meager living like the holdless and since he'd never been the materialistic sort he didn't hoard many things. Despite the suddeness and vagueness of why he had insisted that they move south, Shardamakath was finding he rather liked the south. It was a little warm and the diversity of all the different dragons, whers, day whers, and now the pearls, fascinating.

Like with all things he did now, Mars wanted to do his best and prove himself. However, this morning he was caught off guard by the rising of one of the young golds. Having his bronze sire a clutch was not exactly on his list of ways to prove that he and Shardamakath were good for the weyr, but he supposed there was nothing to do about it since he could already feel his companion flying towards the feeding corrals. At least this was not a Weyrleader flight. You chase, my friend? He asked as he rolled out of bed to start putting his clothes on. That I do. I know we are both new here, but perhaps if I can prove my prowess within the sky then others will look upon both of us with more respect. The bronze stated. Being new in a weyr was not exactly the easiest of roles. They had to earn respect with the others before they could be trusted to do anything other than follow orders. The fact he left the reason for his transfer rather vague did not award them any credit. Well, good luck. Fly high and true. Mars said as he began to tie up the laces of one boot.

That's when he remembered. This was a closed flight. The idea of riders, especially goldriders, locking their doors was still a foreign concept to him, being from the north. Mars had never been in a locked flight before, so he was a little bit at a loss of what to do. He supposed he could ride it out alone, but also figured that there had to be willing flight moths during flights like this. He made a mental note to next time be more prepared for a closed flight, though this time he'd been so busy with moving and settling in he hadn't thought about being prepared. He figured he had a bit of time during the actual flight to see if there happened to be any flight moths around. If not, oh well, he supposed he would have to deal.

For his small stature, Shardamakath was not a petite beast. Stocky and short, yes, but there was power in the definition of his muscles. He watched as the lovely gold begin to blood her kills. After the stress of moving from the north to the south and having to acclimate to a new home, Shardamakath decided that it was likely best for him to blood a beast or two. It didn't take much effort for the long head knobbed bronze to dispatch two bucks and drain them of all their life giving fluid. He just had time to toss the last kill to the side before Andromedath shot up into the air. The bronze was fast to follow her. Beautiful gold. I know I am new to your home, but I will prove to you that I am worthy to help strengthen the weyr as a sire. Our children would be the strongest and fastest Pern has ever seen. Shardamakath crooned to her as he weaved through the bodies of some of the other males. Being small came with advantages and disadvantages. He liked to think within the seven turns of his life he was beginning to get a good idea of how to use those advantages.

Image
(Shardamakath has staying power, but he is still only 45 ft. long. Not sure how much that matters to you or Andromedath.)

For Mars....he is looking for company to spend the flight with, so if there are any takers...let me know. It's a flight, so I don't think he cares whether male or female.

As a rider for the past six turns, M'ir was no stranger to Flights, but he also wasn't the most aware of the Rising schedules of the Queens of the Weyr. He should have been really, as a rider of a large Brown who showed he would certainly Chase them, but he didn't keep track the way Bronzeriders probably tended to, or more ambitious Brownriders. Of course, it wouldn't have done him much good this time either way, as it was Andromedath that caused a portion of the Weyr to wake early. M'ir also woke suddenly when he felt Larixth prod him mentally.

Wake up, M'ir. She Rises and we need to both be alert. The brown was already on the move, making his way to to feeding pens to get started on a Flight meal that he would most certainly need for a Queen's Flight. While Larixth didn't really need M'ir to "participate fully" in one of his Chases any more than any other dragon needed, but he did require M'ir to be awake and aware and alert. He still needed M'ir there for mental support. So it was, M'ir rubbed his tired eyes, sitting up in his bed as he yawned. He scratched the growing facial hair, noting he would have to shave some of it before it started to get too long. Not today though, today was a Flight morning.

Who Rises? He asked of his dragon as he considered how he needed to prepare.

Andromedath.

Then he wouldn't need much preparation. Andromedath was Isiana's Queen, and she was hosting a Locked Flight. He knew that much, and even if he didn't, the Watchrider on duty would announced it not long after, to ensure everyone participating knew. So, for now, M'ir got up from his bed, put on a robe he had, and went to his washroom to wash his face in the water basin. He debated to himself if he should see if any moths would be nearby, or if he should see if anyone else wanted some company for the Flight. He didn't decide right away for now, knowing he would have time. For now he focused on waking up so he could mentally be there for Larixth.

Larixth blooded himself a kill, not able or needing to take in as much as the larger males, so he finished his blooding fairly quickly and watched Andromedath eagerly and impatiently. He grumbled when one of the other males got too close to him for his comfort, shifting to put space between himself and the others.

As Andromedath finished her final beast, he tensed, waiting and eager to take off as soon as she did. When she took off, he did as well, gaining air a little faster than she did at first due to being a little bit smaller, but her wings ate up the sky and air, sending her up into the lightening sky. Soon he was below and behind her just like the other males. The Chase was on and he was ready.

You rise like a second sun into the sky. And I, Larixth, dutifully follow you to the clouds.

(OOC: Larixth doesn't have any abilities, and he is a bit on the small side for the bigger Andromedath, so feel free to not consider him! He's just here for funsies for me <3 )

As the gold took to the skies, Isiana found herself going to her bedroom and finding something a little more suitable to put on for when Lor arrived. After she got changed, she couldn't stop herself from pacing around the apartment. Sure, she had heard all about how Flights work, but she found that it was completely different when you were actually involved in it. The young woman could feel herself getting excited, her heart pounding a little bit, more out of nerves than anything else. Taking a few deep breaths, she tried to calm herself, and managed to do so, even if it was just slightly.

The Gold took to the air, delighting in what she was hearing already. She couldn't help but feel overly pleased with herself. She decided to respond, but she did so in a teasing tone. Wojoth had been the first one, and Andromedath found herself thinking that he would make a good companion, but of course, she couldn't just come out and tell him that. Wojoth, I'm not sure if you can MAKE yourself worthy of me, but it will certainly be interesting to see you try. Who knows, maybe you will be the one I choose.

A croon escaped her as she began to take an interest in the next bronze that had shown up, Flattery will get you everywhere Rhovanioth. Although, sometimes it is not enough just to flatter the Queen. I hope you can chase me as well as you can say beautiful things to me. Rhovanioth was new to the Weyr, and the young Gold had not seen him around very often. Even still, she could not help but he infatuated by him just a little.

Next, the young Gold's attention was drawn to a brown. The first brown to show up for the time being. In her mind, is was every dragon for themselves, no matter if they were browns or bronzes. Issormoth, you already dare to Chase me, so it already gives me an idea of what kind of brown you are. You don't let these bronzes scare you, and that intrigues me, very much

As she rocketed upwards, she glanced back, speaking to the other bronze. As she did, she puffed out her chest a little in pride. Waited for me to rise? Well, I'm glad to have such a dedicated dragon flying me. We will have to see if that dedication is enough Elahrairath.

Folith, your words could not be truer, but I promise not to burn you. If I did that, then what fun would I get to have with any of you? As she spoke, the Queen moved closer to the bronze, flying close to him before veering sharply away in a playful manner.

You are indeed new, and it pleases me to have some new blood chasing me my first time Shardamakath. Let us see how you fare. Quickly she moved ahead of hte bronze, teasing him a little. While he was not the biggest bronze, he was also not the smallest, by far. it just pleased her to have so many rise to the occasion and chase her.

Mnenomth, it is nice of you to compare me to the sun, and that I shine more brightly. Let's see if your actions can back up you're words, shall we? Rising higher, she briefly was lost in the golden sun before she came rocketing back down just inches from the bronze.

You speak of duty, and I appreciate a sense of duty Larixth. I hope you will fly me well as well. Andromedath flew close to him, studying the brown even more. It was nice to have such a variety of bronzes and browns.

Leading them through the sky, she rose up above them, and then doubled back, flying over their heads racing back the other way, teasing her would be suitors with everything she had. Come on boys. Keep up with me!

She wasn't certain if he was worthy of being the one, but he would prove to her through the course of her flight that he was the only choice to be made. None of these other males, bronze or otherwise, could provide her with what she needed and deserved - a good flight through the skies and healthy offspring to grace the Weyr with. Granted, he was new, and had yet to properly prove himself to everyone, but let this be his first act to the people of New Atricis, as the sire of another generation. With this one act, he would show them that he was a bronze that would give them protection and children that would defend them for many, many Turns.

Perhaps I have not yet proven myself worthy, Andromedath, but I have patience and there is time. Let them grace you with flattery and pretty words this day. I will lavish you with them from the moment we land upon the Weyr as mates, until you once again take to the skies. You will never see reason to doubt my devotion to you. All I ask is for your consideration on this day. At that moment, he let silence reign, knowing she had others to address, and a promise to keep to her. Let his words be saved for when she decided to make him her mate. No other words would be needed until then.

He twisted and turned along with the queen, making sure he kept flight with her. Despite his size, he was surprisingly quick, in addition to having the stamina that came with his class. He did not have the egoism that most of his color came equipped with, but in this case, he was most certain that he was the best; no one else was suited to be the mate of this glorious creature but him. Wojoth knew, without a doubt, that following her throughout the sky would be a treat, like following an everlasting sunset into the darkened clouds. Something he would want to become lost in and never wish to return from all at once.

From where he was on the ground, Duke could feel himself slipping further and further into the flight, becoming lost in the sensations that were his dragon and what were emanating through their link. He paused where he was, knowing he was in a corner of the Weyr Yard, content for the shade and the chance to look somewhere to the sky as the dragons passed high overhead. From where he was, he could just enjoy the feel of the wind against his face, the bunch and pull of muscles as wings pumped through the clouds, the pure need to win over the queen.

Wojoth could feel the luck coming from his rider, and were he not so focused on trying to win over Andromedath, he would have thanked Duke, maybe even suggested he find some company of his own, unaware that that was exactly what was going on. Instead, he moved fluidly with the queen, making sure he didn't lose track of her as she moved through the clouds. When she banked, he banked, when she flapped a wing, he made sure his mimicked the sharpness of the movement exactly. She wanted proof of his devotion... well, he was going to prove that to her in every single way.

By the time Elahrairath was at his top speed, his rider was bordering on overwhelmed, but confident that he would manage. He was sweating constantly, but his focus was on his dragon's chase rather than his own body. When Elah's flight ended, successful or not, P'list was sure that he would begin really regretting his decision to stay alone in his quarters, but for now it was barely a thought. His lizards were no help, the emotions coming from his dragon filtering down his connection to them, and leaving them almost as excited as Elah.

Certainly Elahrairath had no thought for his rider's discomfort at the moment. The brown did not miss that Andromedath was flattered by his patience, and his devotion, so he focused on that. I HAVE waited, he insisted, and if you want me I am yours, and he pushed himself harder, struggling to keep up with the twists and turns, and even the complete reversal, that might have been more predictable to a more experienced suitor. If you do not want me, I suppose I may eventually seek another, but how could another ever be as wonderful as you?

While Vin'del settled in for a very lovely morning, Folith was seeking his own. The queen returned his flirtation, moving in his direction for a moment, before slipping away, and he was thrilled. Here was a gold with all the strength, dignity and beauty inherent to her rank, who could have as much fun and lighthearted joy in her flight as the most cheerful green. She was better than the sun, a radiant beauty and a mischievous tongue. He was besotted, in that moment.

What fun could she have if she burned them? Burn us all, he pleaded, but you already do. We all burn from the inside for you, you would only add by burning us outside as well. Surely only the one who can survive your fire is worthy of you.

She teased them all quite coyly, but her attention to other suitors did not offend or discourage Folith, who saw that energy and enthusiasm as enticing. And surely, even if you burn the one you choose completely to ashes, he would be willing to burn, to please you. Certainly Folith was willing to suffer through the burning of his muscles, and his lungs, keeping up with every graceful motion. He would burn for this one way or another, but the next day's ache and exhaustion would be a satisfying reminder of his successful pursuit, because he was certain to be the most ardent of her potential lovers.

I will burn with you, and for you, and if we become ashes, we will still fly and burn, he promised, agilely following the complete reversal that might lose another bronze. If he failed in his pursuit, it would not be because he was lacking in grace or enthusiasm.
