Early Summer, two sevendays after the 1st Walled Hatching
Time: Mid Afternoon
Weather: Bright and sunny, cloudless skies.

Safryn had learned to time her dragons' cycle, and from the moment she began to get proddy, the goldrider began to count down the days. Warnings were given to the other queenriders that in only a sevenday or two, Soqi would take to the skies, and many of them prepared to evacuate the Weyr until the dappled gold had her moment of glory. After that it was just playing the waiting game while the gold became increasingly haughty and snappish toward everyone, including her rider. Not even Ifrith was spared the queen's heated behavior, the dark gold practically chasing Ifrith out of her pavilion until the burning brown figured it out on his own. Safryn did her best to apologize to Ifrith and H'tai for the proddy queen, but they both understood it was a risk involved, with getting involved with a Gold and her rider.

Finally, the day dawned that the rider felt the arousal from her still slumbering dappled beauty and knew that she would be Rising sooner rather than later. She scribbled a few notices to the remaining queenriders and sent them using her flitters, and soon enough the other riders had mounted up and left the Weyr until they were told they could return once Soquilith had been satiated. Safryn also sent word to H'tai and Jora, the two males closet to her so that they could be prepared for the inevitable as well, knowing their connections would only serve to enflame their dragons and the bronze and brown would want to give Chase. The rest of the morning was spent staying close to home, doing work in her apartment and just waiting for the moment when Soqi would wake and realize how strong that arousal had become.

By the time Rukbat had reached its' zenith and had begun its' downward descent, the young woman finally felt the dark queen beginning to wake and stretch. You slept the whole morning away... The woman said with the slightest curl of her lips as she rose from her desk chair and abandoned her work. I needed to save my strength until now... The gold remarked, as if it were the simplest explanation in the world and waltzed pointedly out of her pavilion and gave a glance around the Weyr, stretching her wings wide and fanning them against the afternoon breeze. Are you ready then? Finally going to give me some peace and quiet? Safryn couldn't help but tease, though all she received in response was a haughty growl from the queen as the dappled gold stalked to the edge of the cliff.

Soquilith perched precariously on the cliff, glancing down into the Yard below and gave another fanning of her wings, partially lifting herself off the ground in the display. I challenge you, males of Atricis! Show me who is best among you! The dark and dappled beauty trumpeted to the Weyr, suddenly diving from the cliff and making straight for the feeding pens to whet her whistle before taking to the skies. Safryn had learned long ago how to restrain her gold dragon from eating the meat of her kills, and the briefest battle of wills took place before the woman won out and sharp teeth clamped down on the throat of a herdbeast to bleed it dry.

In the apartment, the goldrider moved quietly to unlock her door and even left it open slightly ajar. She was a queenrider of Atricis, despite her own relationship status - whatever that was right now - she had no choice but to leave her door open to the suitors and she welcomed them into her home. The redheaded woman moved into her bedroom, looking through her closet for a simple sundress to wear for the Flight. It was a pale blue in color and only reached to her finger tips against her thighs, just enough to keep everything covered, but simple and easy enough to remove when the time came. Safryn moved casually back into her living room, shooing her flitters into her office space to perch for the time being and took up a comfortable position to greet the suitors as they arrived, hoping to see a few familiar faces come first.

Soquilith had managed to catch and drain three beasts by the time she dropped the last carcass, her dark frame shooting up into the air like an arrow, roaring her defiance at the males who took off after her. Fly with me! And maybe you'll be lucky to last until the end. The gold did not plan to go easy on her chasers this time, and there were no clouds in the sky to play any games, so this was going to be a dance of aerial manuevers and speed to test their endurance and worth. The gold started with a steep climb into the highest part of the sky she could claim, before tucking her wings and dropping like a stone through the pack of them, only to fan out her wings once she was safely through and bolting off in another direction. Corkscrews and loop-di-loops were used to throw off the males, to track who was following her every move and who was reserving their strength. Soquilith drove on even further and faster through the skies, taking her males farther and farther from their Weyr, out over the wilds of the South to test their limits.

Safryn was ready for this Flight though, felt the gentle thrill of freedom of the lusts flowing through her from her dragon and the woman decided not to hold back completely from her desires. Once everyone had gathered, the goldrider left her comfortable perch and began to move through them, teasing them with gentle touches, whispered words and she even dared to place a heated kiss to a stubbled cheek before twirling away to tease another. Safryn allowed herself to feel a little more carefree, let herself get caught up in the emotions, though she was careful not to get too carried away and saved those more intimate gestures for the one who managed to win over her dragon. Her heart had hopes of who it might be, but she knew that Soquilith was usually far more opionated than that and will choose who she wanted, not who she was influenced to choose.

NPC Bronze Brozoth (G'jof - age 34)

The power of lust was overpowering. Especially was that the case when a queen called. The scent of her Heat flared his nostrils and heated his blood to near boiling. Muscles were tight and ready. His body was crouched and nearly-shivering with readiness. Blood red eyes swirled with the strength of his rut as he waited for her to scream into the skies. When Soquilith took off, a surge of males followed and he was one of them. His focus was upon one thing and one thing only. Soquilith, the queen that called to him. The queen that needed him. The female whose heat called to his own. He would please her in ways she could not yet imagine. Brozoth was all she would ever need. He was the best among all the males and he would prove it. He would last until the end. He would do more than that. He would win. His roar of acceptance for her challenge followed her as he gave his all for his queen.

A'ric groaned a bit as he got back to his apartment. He had been busy with Wingthird duties, and then had tried to fit in a sparring session. Honestly, that hadn't been the best idea he'd ever had. Now he was kind of sore, well, more just a bit stiff than actually sore, and tired. He had slowly been recovering from all the traveling back and forth to Walled, and since the Hatching, he had felt less and less drained each day. Although he was tired now, it was a good kind of tired. He had easily fallen back into his old routine of his craft, Wingthird duties, drills, and making sure Behemoth got the best care he could possibly give him.

He quickly discarded his dirty, sweaty clothes, and headed in to get himself cleaned up. He washed his hands and face, checking himself in the mirror, flattening his hair a bit. He wasn't vain, he just couldn't stand his hair sticking out on all ends and everything like that. At least now he felt not so grimy. He quickly threw on some older clothes to just lay around the apartment in, and sat down with some water, and just let himself relax a bit. He leaned back in his chair, letting his mind wander, and his eyes close a bit.

The peace and serenity did not last very long. Soquilith rises! I will chase her, and prove to THIS Weyr now that I am the best! It took A'ric a moment to process that, but the he realized that he could already feel Behemoth's lust starting. He groaned a bit. Good luck Behemoth He knew there was no point in trying to fight with the bronze to stop him. Besides, the young man knew he could use the experience in Flights.

He quickly got up and went to find some nicer clothes to put on. The clothes he had on were not really acceptable to be going to call on the Queenrider Safryn. By the time he got done, Behemoth had already blooded the two herdbeasts and was heading for his third. A'ric blocked him out this time. He really didn't enjoy this part of the Flight.

After looking at himself in the mirror one last time, he made his way to Safryn's apartment, along with some of the other suitors who's dragons were currently chasing the Gold. He bowed a bit, showing his respect to the Queen Rider as he should. "May Soquilith have a good Flight." Ok, so, he needed to work on that still a bit, but it sufficed anyway. He could only watch as the beautiful redhead began moving around them, teasing them. He let himself give into the lust just a bit, and tried not to get to carried away, although he was still slight inexperienced when it came to this, although somehow he managed to do an alright job.

Beautiful Soquilith, you are as radiant as the sun itself. I accept your challenge, and will prove myself to you! Behemoth buguled, and then began to Chase, the energy humming through him.

Soquilith's next Flight was approaching. Even without talking to Safryn they both knew it. The gold's behavior said it all as she grew increasingly snappy and demanding. All the males were subject to her aggravation, including and perhaps especially Ifrith. The gold had happily kept him as her friend if not mate since the Hatching of their clutch, yet now the gold refused to share space with him. Ifrith accepted it, knowing the time would come when she would take a mate and that it might not be him. The burning brown wasn't sure what he'd do if she chose another though. Their riders would still see much of each other but if she had another mate...would they object to him being near while his H'tai was with her Safryn? Where would he go then?

These questions and more the brown puzzled out in the days leading up to Soquilith's Flight. He would of course give her his very best, dance for her as he had before, but if she chose another he would not be hurt, would not begrudge her her choice. No, he would celebrate the creation of new life instead and remain friendly towards her and her mate. Even now, with her rider trying to apologize for her behavior Ifrith was amicable and understanding. Both he and H'tai assured Safryn that they were fine despite how prickly Soquilith was. The brown knew the day would come when he would have to prove himself again, earn his right to be in her pavilion, just as H'tai knew he'd need to stand in Safryn's bedroom with all the other suitors...and leave if Ifrith didn't win. Once that would have been a comfort but now...he didn't know what he'd do. H'tai didn't want a moth, never had. He wanted to be with Safryn, but in this they were both subject to the whims of her gold. He knew it was possible for a rider to close their Flights but goldriders generally didn't. The why wasn't quite clear to him, though he knew there had to be a reason, unless golds all chose women that loved the excuse to bed strangers, which he couldn't exactly discount. Safryn didn't strike him that way, even though she slept with J'lek often enough. It wasn't like the two of them were in a relationship anyway; they were just friends. Close friends yes, but still friends and nothing more. Nothing exclusive...which they couldn't ever truly be as long as Soquilith Rose and Safryn left her door open.

H'tai never allowed himself to dwell on it long, no matter how many times his mind drifted back to those topics. It was what it was. They were friends. If Safryn wanted to be more she would say something and until she did H'tai refused to pressure her. Did he even want to be more? Another question he wouldn't consider, not wanting to know the answer. If he did while Safryn was happy being friends...no. He did not want that pain-and he would not push for it, ever.

One day Ifrith seemed a little too interested in Soquilith, which put H'tai immediately on edge. His nerves only grew worse when Safryn sent word. Today was the day alright. When Soquilith woke she would Fly. It felt as if the entire Weyr was abuzz waiting for the dark gold to rouse and call the males after her...and all H'tai could do was try to quell the butterflies in his flip-flopping stomach. For a change...he actually hoped his brown won. In the turns since they were weyrlings Ifrith had Chased many females. Never once had H'tai been happy about it, only extremely nervous. And every time he dreaded Ifrith winning. This was the first time he really hoped his dragon won. Because if he didn't...

The thoughts were automatically shoved away, just in time. Ifrith took down two herdbeasts in quick succession, blooding them and going for a third when Soquilith appeared on the cliff above. The brown paused, looking up at her and humming. She demanded to know who the best among the males was, but in that moment she was easily the best and most beautiful of the females. He watched as she dove, easily taking down her first herdbeast, only tearing his eyes away then to get his third. He would need the energy to keep up with her, to impress her. He did not have the innate stamina that some of his competition had which meant he needed to conserve his energy more.

His timing couldn't be better, the brown licking his muzzle clean while Soquilith finished her third herdbeast and took off, challenging the males yet again. Ifrith only hummed and took off after her, not at all fazed by her demeanor. He admired the gold her spirit, was enraptured by her beauty, and determined to Chase her well, Fly her even better if she called to him. I will last shining Queen, because I must dance for you. Let my flight show you how strong my devotion still burns for you! he bugled to her, nothing but loving admiration and devotion for her in his warm mental voice.

The burning brown was as good as his word, following faithfully wherever Soquilith led. He had to be very careful in his following though, for following was not enough. He had to show her more, give her so much more to prove himself worthy of being her mate once more. And he did. Though the brown kept up with her, followed her, he did not follow too closely or exactly. Instead he deviated a little, little tricks to conserve his strength that he also turned into dancing maneuvers for her to see and enjoy. A twist here, loop there leading into a dive that he pulled out of at just the right angle to be easily visible to her. Once she led them out over the wilds Ifrith dove like a stone, pulling up just in time to brush the tops of the trees and snap a few leafy branches off, a vine here and there, and what flowers he could find. This "bouquet" the brown carried through the rest of the Flight, displayed proudly for the love he sought.

The bouquet might have been as much H'tai's idea as Ifrith's though, the brownrider pulling another first and merging with his dragon as much as possible. He hadn't intended to in the beginning when he arrived, but H'tai was keenly uncomfortable being in Safryn's bedroom with all the other suitors, knowing any one of them could take his place with her for the end of the Flight. It was hard, harder still once Safryn began teasing the riders whose dragons were Chasing hers. At one point she kissed his cheek and H'tai's heart climbed into his throat, plummeting right after as she moved on. Okay so she had her reasons for keeping the Flight open but this? Why was she playing with everyone during the Flight? Did her dragon truly take over that much? Or...maybe she really did enjoy it. Either way the scene was a burning ember twisting painfully in H'tai's chest. He couldn't take it. He needed to get out of there. But what if he left and Ifrith won? He needed to be here. So H'tai took the only viable escape route left to him: Ifrith. He tuned into his dragon as much as possible, longing to give his partner support, help give him the best chance of success possible, and to fly with him instead of having to watch Safryn...

Slowly it began to work, dragon and rider coming together in the Flight. H'tai's shoulders began to burn but they pushed on, hearts as one seeking to twine with their mates. They did not seek to push a decision, only show their worth that the dark sun they sought would want them. They gave her their all, showed her how much she meant to them, in the hopes that maybe, just maybe they could mean as much to her in return.

Z'vyr & Brown Kivanath
Ages; Z'vyr - 25; Kivanath - 7
The brownrider had been lounging on his ledge with his dragon, stretched languidly along the brown's front legs as they watched the clouds float by in the midday sky. Things had been very fast-paced as of late, he noted with a sigh as he closed his eyes to the bright sun above him, his mind drifting back to the Hatching at Walled Hold a mere two sevendays ago. The queen egg that Walled had tried so desperately to restrict from the Atrician candidates had not only defied Walled's wishes by choosing a person not hand-picked by the Hold, she had chosen a person from the stands, not even a candidate, who proudly had been wearing Atrician knots. Walled had been far from happy about that, but what was anyone supposed to do in that situation? Try to force the queen to Impress to another, a tactic that wouldn't have worked if one had even tried it? This is why people just shouldn't try to restrict the choices of hatchlings, he thought with a sigh as he glanced up, opening one eye just enough so that he could see his brown clearly enough to know what he was doing. The brown was eagerly watching the sky, and his eyes were starting to whirl with telltale reds. Z'vyr knew the brown wasn't angry about anything, as he tended to be a rather laid back creature, so that left only one option for the beast. Who is getting ready to rise this time, lad? he asked, pushing himself up to his feet as his dragon did the same, the brilliant orange that ran in a blaze down his face standing out so well against the deep, nearly black brown of the rest of his face.

Soquilith rises this day, my Z'vyr, the brown responded, stretching his wings so that their brilliant orange markings, starting at the trailing edges and fading elegantly to the base deep brown of his body halfway through the sails, could be displayed against the brilliant sun. I will be chasing her, so you had best find her rider. With that, the brown was gone, the dark hide offset by the bright orange markings on his head and wings, and complemented by the lighter brown braided stripes running all over his body standing out against the brilliant daylight. He would be hard to miss at the moment, the young man thought with a shake of his head as he started through the corridors, instinct guiding him to Safryn's weyr as easily as instinct was leading Kivanath to the queen whose affections he was seeking.

It wasn't long before the brown landed close to Soquilith, a soft rumble escaping him as he took down one herdbeast before draining it of it's lifeblood. I rise to your challenge, radiant one. I will follow wherever you may lead me, he told her, keeping true to his word as they took off into the skies. He wasn't the fastest of browns, but he did manage to keep up with the gold through all of her tricks, all of her twists and turns in order to lose some of her chasers. While not fast, he was quite agile, and that was enough for him. He only hoped that it was enough for her, he thought with a croon, letting the gold know that steady Kivanath was still there.

Back in the Weyr itself, Z'vyr had remained in the background for the most part, knowing that his brown's chances of winning were slim. It wouldn't have been fair to Kivanath, getting so friendly with Safryn and getting the brown's hopes up too high, only for Soquilith to choose another. Yet as the flight continued on, his brave brown actually managing to keep up with the gold, the young man grew bolder, a smile tugging at his lips as he regarded Safryn with pale green eyes already clouded slightly from the bond that he shared with his dragon. He dared to take a step closer, bowing his head respectfully to the goldrider as he instinctively disregarded the other riders in the room. She deserved his attention far more than the rest of them, after all, and his dragon was counting on him to bolster his own confidence. "May Soquilith choose well, my lady." And with that, he was silent again, his voice too rough with the feelings swarming into his mind from his bond with Kivanath to permit any further discussion. He maintained a respectful distance from the goldrider, though he remained close enough to keep him consistently in her sights, hoping that seeing him would help Soquilith remember that Kivanath was there, always there, always following. The time for the gold to choose was drawing closer by the moment, and with each passing breath, the young man was sending all the confidence that he could through his bond, bolstering his dragon's strength and confidence as much as he could before the choice was made.

Barath lifted his head from his nest he made that night and looked to his rider. He saw the man hard at working doing something, but he bushed it off not even paying attention. He looked out at the field, feeling the pull of the one great Soquilith who was coming from her burrow in the weyr to land with the beasts to feed for her flight. He watched as the great gold fed and fed, and in his own lust and rut he started forward to the edge of his own weyr and jumped. Letting his wings catch the wind as he fell to the ground in a hurry to catch his own kill and tear into the beast. He wasn't going to let up on this chase, he had not be able to catch a gold in a while, taking green's and catching them every time if he wanted to, sometime being grounded to his weyr for a while, but today he was full of wound up muscle that wanted to be used. He heard his bonded in the back of his mind calling him back, telling him to let the others go, they had work to do, when his voice faded of at the realization it was a gold flight and Barath wasn't going to let it go.

I will chase you today deal Soquilith and prove to you that theses others are not fit for you during this flight. I see your hide shine and will match you, for I am perfect for you. He said making a side snarl at another bronze that got to close. He watched as she lifted her wings and the chase was on. He wanted to prove that he could match her and when he took to the air he lifted his wings to give a great shove and he was off, following her as best he could. Pulling back and pushing forward to catch her as she took them on a great chase. He snarled when another would get to close to him as he climbed after the great shinning gold, letting her take him where she wanted on the great dance in the sky. He cooed and hummed at her when he got close enough to almost catch her, before she slipped away again. He folded his wings when they dived and stilled his wings when they flew in a straight line, he had learned a lot from his flights with the greens, and wouldn't push himself, if she chose him, he wanted to make sure he had the stamina in him to finish the flight with her, and make her see that she was picking the best bronze of them all for her clutch.

Akoth knew, just as he always did, when a queen was soon to rise and his attentions zeroed in on Soquilith quickly enough. It was standard by now, dealing with the bronze's posing beforehand. At least, K'din could be glad, the bronze did not tempt fate in coming close enough to be chased off like so many others felt the need to do.

It was afternoon when Soquilith finally rose, her trumpet sounding out over the Weyr. Akoth bugled his reply to the challenge and K'din set off for the Weyrwoman Second's quarters with Carrot's teasing promise to be waiting for him after. "It's like you want Akoth to lose," he joked in reply before entering in. All thoughts of one redhead were immediately replaced by another, however, and K'din watched Safryn dance amongst her suitors, interacting with her as she drew near to him and, in the skies, Akoth pressed his suit, as well.

Akoth's bulk meant he did not have the ability to turn and dip and wheel about the sky like most others. There was only one other dragon larger than him in the Weyr, after all, and he was still inexperienced in comparison to Akoth's turns upon turns of chasing. So the copper-toned bronze pressed on, maintaining a steadier flight path than many, but prepared to chase Soquilith to the northern continent and back if that was what she so desired.

Up in the air, she watched them, a keen eye taking note of each and every male that Chased, judging them that thought they were worthy enough to twine with the likes of her beauty and fire. Their words of devotion and admiration only seemed to fuel her own, make her fly faster and further to show them just how wonderful and majestic she really was. Every so often though, she'd slow down just enough that the pack of males were practically surrounding her, but teeth and claws would greet any who thought to take her choice away from her, and instead she basked in their glory of her, strong wings beating proudly, her dappled hide shining brightly to reflect coins of sunlight back at the males. Soquilith knew she was coveted, desired by these strong and virile males, and yet only one of them would be strong enough to carry her upwards toward freedom and release.

On the ground, the redheaded woman felt the same sense of liberation, the desires washing over her until it felt like her skin was prickling and the hairs standing on end just waiting to be touched and wanted. Her pale form weaved effortlessly through the suitors, her hands trailing over their arms or chest, and though she lingered near a certain young brownrider, Safryn knew that her want of H'tai might only push Soquilith away from Ifrith. Though she kissed his cheek, she had to move away from the brownrider, and she saw the hurt in his eyes, saw the defeat already starting to sink in, and she wanted nothing more than to wrap her arms around him and carry him away, but she was at the whim of something much stronger now. Blue eyed gaze fluttered over the familiar faces, a thin finger tracing along K'din's jaw while smirking devilishly at the man, or running through the ashen blonde hair of another bronzerider whom she knew rather intimately. A coy sort of smirk was given to J'lek before she deftly twirled away from him and into the arms of another, a young and handsome brownrider who'd been quietly polite, while his brown followed resolutely. She smiled at Z'vyr, but was soon out of his grasp and smiling upon another bronzerider, lifting a hand to touch gently against' A'rics' lips as if quieting him, though he'd said nothing since his greeting.

After it seemed that each of them had been given an ounce of her temptation, the tension in the room had built to a crescendo and Safryn felt like her insides were wound so tightly she was liable to choose for herself if Soqi did not make her decision soon. A growl emitted from the gold, for the dark beauty knew who the woman would choose, and today she had other ideas in mind. She needed big, she needed strong, she needed the most virile male, not the youth she'd fancied with last time. The dappled queen bore down into the last ounce of strength, melding with her rider and drawing upon the woman for that needed boost and powerful wings tore at the open skies, lifting her straight and high into the sky, the final ascent. Safryn leaned against the back of the couch as she felt Soquilith draw upon her, and she gave herself wholy to the dragon, the room around her slipping away in those final moments.

The dark queen rose fast and steady into the peak of her climb, the highest altitude she'd reached yet, where the air was thin and her lungs began to burn for air, while wings strained to keep her bulk aloft. Finally, when she felt just the barest amount of energy left, Soquilith gave into the end of the Flight, knowing she needed a second set of wings to carry her carefully back to the ground, to expend this rush of release and twine with only the strongest male to prove themselves to her. Join me Akoth. Lend me your strength. Soquilith called out to her chosen, allowing only the bronze to come near and readily twined her neck and tail around the massive bronze and allowed him to bring them safely back to the ground once more.

Briefly, her heart sank at the gold's choice, blue eyes fluttering open and looking for a certain brownrider, but she couldn't stop him as she watched H'tai turn and flee from the room once he realized Ifrith had not been chosen. The hurt and rejection in his eyes caused her heart to lurch in her chest and a hand lifted out to the brownrider, but it was soon clasped by K'din's strong hand instead. Safryn leaned against the bronzerider as dragonlust and instinct rolled through her body and mind, lips searing against his own as their dragons melded overhead. The redheaded woman was plucked up off her feet soon after, and the bedroom door closed behind them as the Flight came to an end. The queen was wholy satisfied with her choice in mate this time around, and their long descent back to the ground was echoed in the endurance of their riders, so that Soquilith was sure she would grow fat and heavy with more eggs than she'd ever lain before.

Barath Flew until he couldn't fly anymore, he watched as the beautiful queen before him took him through the sky and beyond. Then once she turned and made a be line for another bronze he let himself drop. Fall until he had to pick himself back up and glide to his weyr where he landed with a hard thud. His bonded walked up to him and crooned to him about being a wonderful bronze and being a wonderful flyer, that he would catch a gold one day. Barath huffed and hummed, happy his bonded could at least see his potential. Being so tired, Barath curled around his bonded until he began to snooze, dreaming of being just behind the gold's tail.
