To Greet a New Day (70th Dragon Hatching, NPC)

A large natural cavern found by the initial expedition. It has been cleared out and filled with sand. Naturally flowing hotspring pools inside the cavern keeps this cavern warm enough for dragon eggs, but also makes it very humid with all the steam from the hotspring waters.

Fuzzytime: Por 19, early morning
Weather: Clear

In the summer, the coolest time of day was the early morning hours that most tended to sleep through. Lennoth had been finicky with her clutch again this time around as the time for their hatching drew closer. The day Rhianwen had assumed it would be on passed with her at her gold's side, sweating out the heat of the summer and the sands. When the sun fell without a peep from the eggs, Rhianwen turned to her calculations. Lennoth had always been so exact in her rising and clutching.

But the calculations were correct. Maybe tonight, then. Or early tomorrow.

It was, in fact, as Rhianwen took a breath of cool early morning air, with only the faintest glow on the horizon and the three sisters glows bright in the sky, that the call came.

My children will greet the world with a new day, Lennoth summoned the Weyr, Join me in greeting them.

Rhianwen sighed in disappointment at having to return to the steaming heat, but shivered against the comparatively cool morning breeze and turned around to be waiting the Weyr on the sands with her queen.

The candidates stumbled in, bleary but excited. The audience was a slightly more sluggish match. By the light of glows, the first egg hatched and the dragon within immediately found its partner.

It was a good omen for what promised to be a strong clutch.
