The Crafter Complex is a series of buildings that contain craft halls and rooms for the crafters of New Atricis to work. There is a single dorm building for apprentices, while journeyman and masters live in second floor rooms in their respective crafts. Off to the side from the complex is the largest building, the Infirmary, where everyone in the Weyr receives Healer attention and desk workers keep track of who comes and goes at the entrance to the Infirmary.

There was supposed to be a ladder anyone could grab to reach the highest shelves, but it was currently under repair from wear and tear rubbing the joints of a few of the rungs loose. There were stools, however. A number of them, even. The problem was, Rina was standing on one of those stools, on her tip toes, and, even still, her fingers did not quite brush the bottom of the shelf she was reaching for, let alone the scroll that sat on it that she was currently in need of.

Rina pushed one of her feet off the stool and reached up as high as she could, brushing the top side of the shelf before she fell back down, hands grabbing onto a closer shelf to steady herself. She looked up and down the aisle, both wanting help but not wanting to need it, took a deep breath and reached up again. Maybe, if she just kept reaching, as futile as her attempts so far had been, she'd magically grow the necessary amount.

She fell back down to her flat feet and sighed in annoyance, glaring at the shelf. Or maybe she'd straight up climb the shelf. She was small, after all, it could probably hold her.

Soleius wasn't exactly dodging chores, he had done the work that had been assigned to him, and if the route he was taking to see if there was anything else to do was a bit circuitous, well, he was avoiding walking on the wet floors he had seen on the way. He certainly didn't want to create extra work for the people cleaning the floors, did he?

So he was heading through the back hallways of the crafter complex instead of the main paths, (for a good reason, I swear) when he saw a pretty woman that he didn't know (no candidate knots, that explained it) trying to reach a top shelf with a stool. And failing. He probably shouldn't tell her that her frustrated glare at the shelf made her even more attractive, especially since her knots showed that she outranked him.

And she DID outrank him. Wrong craft, but wasn't he essentially required to offer her assistance when she obviously needed it? Apparently it would be just a little bit longer before he got back to ask for his next task. "Excuse me, Journeywoman," he asked, with a meek tone of voice, but a crooked, mischievous smile. "What are you trying to reach? Can I get it for you?"

Yes, it was still something like work, but it was something like work with an opportunity to flirt, so it was a step up.

Rina had one hand on the shelf at shoulder-height and another at the shelf above her head, ready to climb and call it done, when someone called out for a journeywoman. She paused, sent one last sigh at the scroll and turned to see a young man, probably of an age with her, sending her a mischievous smirk.

Rina frowned minutely but was quick to cover it up. She never did well with the mischievous sort but Solange had long since trained what she called the barest of solicitous behavior into her. It was, at times, far more than Rina ever wanted to do, but it did seem to make social interactions far smoother than they used to be when she was a child. Besides, the man had offered assistance. And, even while she was standing on the stool, she had maybe an inch on the man. It meant he had longer arms, too.

That decided, Rina stepped off the stool and backed away to leave room for...at this point, she checked his shoulder knots to find those of a dragon candidate. So younger, then... she noted to herself then pointed to a large scroll on the top shelf. "That scroll on the top there, if you please," she requested, "It's the second one from the right if you use the divider as a reference. It is on the older side and in need of repair, so take care with it."
