Flicker ~ { Tag } Parker/Corbin

A rather large building in the new Weyr, it is so large due to the necessity of many rooms. The ground floor contains numerous rooms that are set up for use as needed. There is a main waiting room in the center and birthing rooms and a nursery for newborns. There are also desk workers at the entrance to keep track of who comes and goes. A second floor is where most of the healers live.

Flicker ~ { Tag } Parker/Corbin

Rolling over, Saibra noted a couple of things straight away as her eyes fluttered open. She was awake far too early. She knew it because Sarsk was still asleep, and normally he was the one to wake her up. She glanced towards the bronze's couch and sighed, wondering how he was able to sleep so deeply when she was awake, and wishing she could just fall back to sleep right along with him. But now that she was awake and contemplating the other thing, there was no way she'd be able to close her eyes, in part because of it. She was starving. She hadn't really eaten the day before, maybe because she'd been too busy to stop and eat, and now her body was pressing her mind, reminding her about why it was such a bad idea to skip out on a meal. This resulted in a groan and she rolled over, tried to press a pillow over her head, but it did nothing to hide the hunger pangs gnawing at her belly and rising to consume the rest of her. The only option was to get out of bed and eat something, then maybe get back to bed for another couple of candlemarks of rest.

Climbing out of bed, she didn't bother to dress. She was going to climb right back in eventually, so she just finger combed her hair which did little to tame the mass, and decided it would have to do. She just wanted to get to the dining hall and find some food. Her stomach growled at that moment, deciding it was a good time to tell her feet to move. However, despite the pangs, she stopped to give Lady of the Rose a little shake, and the garnet fancy flitt grumbled in her sleep. She peeled open an eye to look at her and snorted, closing a lid or two before Saibra could speak. "Should I take that as a no, leave me alone?" To answer her, the lizard closed the rest of her eye and the woman chuckled before leaving her alone. "Right, I'll bring you something for later, maybe." That was enough good humor, the rest left her the moment she came into contact with light and beyond the dens.

She was quick to make her way to the dining hall, and once there, she made her way to the table to gather herself a tray. There was so much on hand tonight, from meats to cheeses and fruits and vegetables, a few new things she'd never seen before that she was told should be eaten straight away so she could try some more, and a couple of drinks that were highly recommended. Adding a little bit of everything, she found a place to sit, then realized she didn't grab something and frowned. After setting it down, she started to make her way towards the table again, not realizing just how much of a mess she looked, but she was hungry, and eager to hurry, so at the moment, she didn't care.

Life had a funny way about it sometimes. Corbin came to New Atricis because it was far enough away from Ruatha and his sordid past that he was able to find work as a detective. He never once thought that his coming here would lead to him becoming a candidate for one of the mighty beasts that were the night whers. He certainly didn't plan on becoming one when he got here, but that was now where he found himself. After several weeks of trying to find his niche with the normal guards, Corbin quickly found out that he didn't get along with them very well. Apparently, he rubbed them the wrong way. It was by chance that he happened to speak to a few night wher handlers while working a small, insignificant case. He hit it off better with them than he had the regular guard. After their jobs were done they'd gone out for a drink or three and eventually talked Corbin into making a case to the Wher Candidatemaster to allow him to stand.

Today he'd done just that and, low and behold, he was granted permission. For the first time in awhile, Corbin was feeling rather...dare he say it...happy. He'd never thought of himself as the bonding type, but it if got him away from the imbeciles that worked for the normal guard, then he was all for it. Plus, it wasn't as if he had an issue with whers. The best part...he'd still be doing his detective work, but with a wher as his partner.

It was with a rather smug and happy mood that Corbin took himself to the dining hall for some breakfast. Yes, breakfast. It might have just started turning evening, but since he was going to be a night wher handler he decided he might as well start acclimating to being awake at night instead of during the day. He really didn't think he was going to have a problem with it. If anything it would allow him to sleep more considering his work often had him up late into the night anyways. Then, he'd have to get up early to start the day again. As a night wher candidate and eventual handler, he was allowed to sleep through the day some. Most criminals worked at night anyways, so it really just worked out for the better all the way around.

Once to the dining hall he set his eyes for a worker to bring him a plate and something to drink. He spotted a woman walking towards him...well, towards the kitchen, and immediately stopped her. "Perfect. I'd like a plate of whatever the cooks made tonight. Two sides of vegetables. Some sort of fruit and a glass of your best ale. I'll be right over there." No thank you, no please, just the order and then he was moving to the table he indicated, not even giving the woman a chance to speak to him.

She stood there, mouth agape, after the man walked off. Apparently he thought her some kind of server or drudge, and before she had the chance to speak to him or tell him off, he was gone. She shook herself free of her shock and looked after him, contemplated going and telling him off, and thought better of it. No, she'd get the bastard his food, but he wouldn't like the little "additive" she was going to put into it. I hope the son of a bitch likes spice. Lots of it, too. Because I'm going to put plenty of it in there for him.

Just say no. Step away. Do nothing. Sarsk didn't want to see her get into trouble, or wind up with an issue bigger than she wanted to get herself caught up in that night. That's what was going to happen, he was trying to suggest, if she messed with the man's food. Not do, Saibra. Take food, come to Sarsk. Eat with Sarsk, yes? Share with Sarsk?

Then he shouldn't have spoken to me like he did. His fault for this. She grabbed his ale first, watered it down on purpose, then proceeded to plate his food up. Only she added pinches of peppers here and there, making sure they wouldn't be seen or smelled immediately. She had no idea that the man was a detective though, or that he might know that the food had been tampered with something spicy. Maybe he would like the added spice. She wasn't thinking about these things, only that she was pissed and she wasn't going to make things easy for him tonight.

Being child.

Maybe, but she wasn't in a good mood, and Corbin had rubbed the last one raw and bare. Again, his fault for this, not her own. She grabbed his plates and his ale, carried them in the direction of his table, and had to fight hard not to scowl the closer she came to him. She was not going to give him the pleasure of seeing her smile, or being tipped off that there was something extra in his dishes, or that his ale wasn't strong enough. She also wasn't going to give him the pleasure of seeing her anger, so she bit off her upset and put a pleasant enough smile on her face, setting the plates down as politely as she could manage. "Enjoy, precious."

No matter how hard she tried, the scathing tone could not be dashed in those final few moments.
